100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 tramp55555 (1) Lisbon, Ohio | October 1, 2011 A very knowlegable staff in a caring enviroment where virtually any beer is available to sample or purchase. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 3/10 VALUE 2/10 OVERALL 11/20 BiggBrewMan (1) Boardman, Ohio | June 5, 2011| Updated June 17, 2011 Just visited over the memorial day weekend. My buddy goes to this place ALOT so I had to check it out while I was in town. They have two tap rooms with twelve taps each. I guess the no crap on tap mean no bud or miller? I personally thought the list was average (and a lil pricey) at best. Their bottle selection was awesome! They also have hand streched flat breads which were good, but again pricey for what they are. Service can be a little slow at times it seemed, but they may have been busy. Worth the stop, yes. But to say they are the #1 beer store in the world? I just got informed of something. Vintage was #1 beer retailer 2009 and 2010. Not 2011. They are currently #15 for 2011. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 beerchugger (23) North Canton, Ohio | April 12, 2011| Updated June 17, 2011 The place is a little small, but that makes it quaint. Either way, considering how small the place is, they have quite the variety of beers available. All the food I’ve had has been really good (except the beer cheese - not worth the price). The people there, from my experience, are mostly friendly, though I’ve not had to ask for too much from them yet. They may be a little pricey, but I don’t mind at all. I’d gladly pay higher prices for more places like this. I’ve driven 45 minutes to get there and it’s always worth it. Highly recommended if you can make it. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 bittermestupid (13) Canton, Ohio | March 16, 2011| Updated June 17, 2011 Visted on KBS tapping party I really enjoied the party. Their flatbreads are very good and the service we had in the bar area was great. Phil and Bob were great and extremely helpful. I wish I could say the same for two of the woman working there. They were rude and not willing to help me find a beer that they had in their inventory. Maybe it’s hard to find good help that shares the passion for micro brew and it’s community! | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 N0AH (10) Pennsylvania | December 27, 2010| Updated June 17, 2011 Worth the drive from PA where the beer laws and taxes cripple any good beer stores. This is a place that rightly should have ratings just shy of perfect. No, they don’t have every seasonal, every one-off, or the anniversary brew from every nanobrewery in the country. But they do have the best selection for miles around. They do have friendly and knowledgeable folks who will help you find stuff. And they do have reasonable prices on so many craft beers that if you live nearby you would be a happy drinker. | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 kal8080 (1) Ohio | November 24, 2010| Updated June 17, 2011 VE is Youngstown’s premier location to enjoy beer for everything that it is. No tvs, no distractions, just good friends and good brew. Oh and the pizzas are great! | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 stunman (2) | September 24, 2010| Updated June 17, 2011 I really have to say that I love this place and wish it was in my own backyard in Pennsylvania. The thing that this place has going for them is the location, nice area, and ambiance*, and food. However, I must say that the beer selection is very good, but I would not consider it exceptional. Additionally, I agree with the review below that the beers on tap are generally on the lame side. I think most people would prefer a staple full of fine Belgiums, and rotating top-notch seasonals, as opposed to the obscure, lower rated ones. Most people I talk to who love beer, actually struggle with choices on tap. I guess money talks and BS walks. Last but not least, I believe not having at least one televisioin takes away from the ambiance. I know, I know its supposed to be about conversation. But some background TV or music would definitely liven this place up. Close to home, we have a place called House of 1000 Beers. The selection is better for both draft and bottle. They have TV’s. If only they have the location. The beer should be the top priority, and I’m not sure that this occurs at Vintage as far as the drafts. Other than that, a great place that I will always visit when in Ohio. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 auderale (67) Bitburg, Germany | August 17, 2010| Updated June 17, 2011 Just about 30 minute drive from my home in New Castle. Definitely worth the trip. Great atmosphere, free wifi and the bar right there was pretty awesome. The selection is one of the best I’ve seen. Definitely will make a trip everytime I’m back in Pa. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 akfoodman (1) | June 15, 2010| Updated June 17, 2011 We recently made a trip to VE and stayed for hours from neighboring Pennsylvania. The beer selection is phenomenal. The wine selection is also highly admirable. The prices were much better than those seen in PA. On the beer selection, VE boasted over 800 bottled craft beers. I was looking for some big name beers, particularly those from the Russian River Brewing company. Unfortunately, they did not carry them. I also was looking for some beers from the Founder’s Brewing company. They had a decent selection, but not all, and understandably none of the seasonal offerings. This was a tad disappointing, but not totally unexpected. We spent many hours at the bar sampling virtually every beer on tap. The kegs are rotated and changed when one is kicked. VE boasts, “no crap on tap”, most likely in reference to not having any of the watered down, corn-based big name American brews on tap. However, I must say that I did not particularly fall in love with any of the dozen or so varieties that I tried. Some of them were very gimmicky type beers flavored with lemon. When asked what the best beer on a tap was, the General Manager replied, “Kentucky Bourbon Ale”, apparently their signature beer that is one of the few staple beers. Unfortunately this was an awful tasting beer which made me question his credibility. To each his own, but I’ve been around long enough to know that this is just not a highly regarded beer, plain and simple. The atmosphere was fun and festive, and the flatbread pizzas were to die for - absolutely outstanding. This place is place is worth additional visits and we will no doubt hang out here again and again. Objectively though I question the highest international rating and the quality of beers that are on tap as very few were good as they reminded me of Anheuser-Busch knock-offs of Blue Moon (Shock Top), Corona (Bud Light Lime) and Guinness (Bare Knuckle Stout), just from small breweries as opposed to the big names. Overall rating = B/B+ | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 NickRWB (3) New Port Richey, Florida | June 9, 2010| Updated June 17, 2011 This is the place to go in the area for craft beer. I do feel it is a bit overrated, and I do not think it’s worthy of its "#1 Beer Retailer" status, but it is still great nonetheless. I’ve not sat down for a drink in the tasting room, but they always seem to have a great selection and variety. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and you can really tell they love beer. Love this place. |
