We recently made a trip to VE and stayed for hours from neighboring Pennsylvania. The beer selection is phenomenal. The wine selection is also highly admirable. The prices were much better than those seen in PA. On the beer selection, VE boasted over 800 bottled craft beers. I was looking for some big name beers, particularly those from the Russian River Brewing company. Unfortunately, they did not carry them. I also was looking for some beers from the Founder’s Brewing company. They had a decent selection, but not all, and understandably none of the seasonal offerings. This was a tad disappointing, but not totally unexpected. We spent many hours at the bar sampling virtually every beer on tap. The kegs are rotated and changed when one is kicked. VE boasts, “no crap on tap”, most likely in reference to not having any of the watered down, corn-based big name American brews on tap. However, I must say that I did not particularly fall in love with any of the dozen or so varieties that I tried. Some of them were very gimmicky type beers flavored with lemon. When asked what the best beer on a tap was, the General Manager replied, “Kentucky Bourbon Ale”, apparently their signature beer that is one of the few staple beers. Unfortunately this was an awful tasting beer which made me question his credibility. To each his own, but I’ve been around long enough to know that this is just not a highly regarded beer, plain and simple. The atmosphere was fun and festive, and the flatbread pizzas were to die for - absolutely outstanding. This place is place is worth additional visits and we will no doubt hang out here again and again. Objectively though I question the highest international rating and the quality of beers that are on tap as very few were good as they reminded me of Anheuser-Busch knock-offs of Blue Moon (Shock Top), Corona (Bud Light Lime) and Guinness (Bare Knuckle Stout), just from small breweries as opposed to the big names. Overall rating = B/B+

Awesome bottle shop. Stopped in from Pittsburgh looking for beer not available in PA. They had everything I was looking for and the owner hung out and chatted beer while I put together a case. Great prices too.

Located in a kinda hard-to-find little plaza right off of 224 in Boardman. If you’re not familiar with the area, call first for directions. Impressive selection... Definitely the best in the Mahoning Valley. You can mix’n’match a six pack (or two six-packs, or three...). Various beers by Bell’s, Dogfish Head, Brooklyn, Great Lakes, Victory, Stoudt’s, Stone, Unibroue and many others. Lots of Belgians (Gulden Draak, Piraat, Trappistes Rochefort, Orval, etc.) The selection varies, but I’d estimate that they have at least 200 different beers in stock at any given time. Since my first visit in early 2004, this has become one of my favorite places to shop for beer. Any beer fans in the Y-town area should definitely check it out.

I’ve been buying beer from this place for almost a year now and only recently glanced at the back of the store to discover that there was a little bar set up with some taps. Tonight I decided to sit down and have a glass. They had 6 beers on top, two of which were from Bells. Great prices and great service, not only that but the place had a great atmosphere as well. The guys who were apparently regulars were very kind and inviting and had a good sense of humor about them. I’ll definately be returning.

With out going into great detail about the inventory, I enjoyed nearly all the beers available from microbrews to imports. This is beer heaven and I didn’t have to die to get there. I love the ability to buy one beer as opposed to six that way I’m not stuck with five more if I didn’t like that perticular brew. Besides that it’s great to go in the fridge and have a varity to choose from. Bill A

I was lucky enough to visit this place the other night. Great selection of wine and beer, with excellent beers on tap...with expedition going on tap soon!!!!! Unbelievably nice and knowledgeable staff. Ron is a really genuine guy and very nice. I visited this place with my brother and while we were there Ron’s friend stopped in and we had a somewhat impromptu beer tasting including a few nice beers, some good homebrews, and even hop candy!! Cant say enough about this place and highly recommended to any one looking for a good place to visit in Ohio or surrounding areas for that matter. Will definitely go back for another visit as soon as I can...and I will be sure to bring some beers with me to share with Ron and his friend...sorry I cant remember your name

Taking the advice of a bartender from Sharp Edge, a couple of friends and I made a trip out this weekend from southwest pa. It was about an hour and a half drive and worth every minute. There was an amazing selection, and the service was second to none. We left with a trunk load of beer and smiles on our faces. I’ll definitely be back when my supply runs dry. Thanks, Ron!
