Vulcan has a great selection and is always adding things I have never tried, so I go by fairly often to see what’s new. Prices are about average for gourmet beer, but given the selection, whether you know what you want or looking for something new, it’s worth the trip, and I live across town We buy kegs from time to time (crawfish boils, ball games, etc.) and they give you everything you need except friends! ....

Best selection in Birmingham, hopefully will get even better come August 1. Prices suck, qualifying as a full on rape of your wallet,

Kinda sleazy, dingy place. Decent selection, service is there but strange if this makes sense.

Despite the great selection, the customer service here sucks. We often buy kegs for various events and will never buy from here again. We were once given a tub that leaked and, therefore, didn’t hold ice. Most places would apologize and make it right, but not here. We decided to give them another chance and this time we were given a brand new tub. However, when we returned it, there were a few scratches on the bottom and our deposit was not returned. Word has it that Vulcan Beverage is responsible for stopping the use of reusable glass growlers, too.

Friendly service! The owner really encourages browsing. Save your questions though...he doesn’t drink?? Pricing is a little high on some items, but they offer a lot beers that you can’t find anywhere else in Birmingham.

Love this place!! Always go in when visiting my sister. Always the owner behind the counter and he is very knowledgeable. Awesome idea to make the whole store a Mix-a-six! I always stock up on the local brews (good people brewing..etc) and regional favorites (terrapin, cigar city...etc) Just a great shop and right in the middle of town. Prices are right on point! You must visit this shop when your in Birmingham! They always have the newest things!

Lots of singles and milk jug growlers available. Decent prices and good help. Kind of a ghetto looking store but most beer kept cold.

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place is in a crappy neighborhood and is kind of run down. However it is right off the freeway. I got there just as the place opened and the owner (I assume) was getting out of his boat of a Cadillac with a pistol tucked into his pants. Awesome. I was pleasantly surprised with the number and types of beers available in bottle and in "Alabama Growlers" (i.e., used plastic milk jugs). Funny stuff. Among the beers available on tap was Moylans Hopcicle. Very surprising. I know that I have not been to a store in Alabama with a better selection of beers. Atlanta might be the next closest place with a better selection. Prices seemed fine. And while I did not list anything as food they had some damn good pickled garlic for sale! I’ll go back if I’m in the area.

For a liquor store this place is kinda snazzy. Staff was friendly and willing to help if you asked for it. Was not particular impressed with the selection compared with the regular place I go. Look out Nellie! This place is expensive -- I’d rather have good beer than carpet and shiny surfaces.
