It seemed like a cozy place, but we had a similar experience to one described below. Despite most tables being open (and bar seats), they wanted to seat two of us at a table for 10 because all other tables were reserved. And they wanted to charge 500 yen for a seating charge. They only had one hoppy beer on draft, so we skipped it.

This is up on the 4th floor and a bit hard to find. Look for the sign by the door. Good little Japanese-style Izakaya, but with a lot of beer. 11 draught beers include usually 4 guest Japanese micros, and a German import or 2. Good selection of bottled beers. About 100 bottles, including lots of Japanese Micros as well as imports. Good German beers at reasonable prices. M-Th happy hour gives very cheap major beers, shochu and sake when you by a ¥1000 food set. Great deal, but you can’t get it with a reservation, which is weird. Japanese drinking-food is high quality, lots of different grilled and smoked meats, fish, and veggies. This is a pricy place, though. The table charge is high, and somewhat irrational: last I checked, it was ¥500 per person, more if you reserve a table, and ¥1000 if you don’t eat. Best to go on a weekday, get the happy hour set, drink lots of cheap beer and sake and add a couple nice ones as well. It is often booked full, though.

I am going against the grain, but I was not very impressed. The food we ordered was pretty good, but the craft lineup only had 6 draft beers, none of which were ones I would consider Top 10 in Japan. A 570cc pint is 1250, which is around average, but our bill hit 9500 after 3 pints and a few dishes of food. They have a tasting set, but they wouldn’t tell us what beers were on it "owner’s choice" WFT? A lot of bottles, but overpriced in the 900-1500 range. Smokers sat down next to us, which was a signal it was time to go.

Walked half an hour to get there, the place was 60-70% empty and they turned me away saying "all the tables are reserved". Maybe because I’m a foreigner? What a shit place, don’t bother making the effort to find it.

Nice place, with a decent tap selection and good bottles. Cover is a bit high, but food is good with some decent veggie selections. I liked the smoked eggs particularly. Nice place to drink.

Great ambiance of dark wood and friendly staff who know beer are huge pluses. Tasters are also cool. The problem for me is they’re stuck in the past when they were one of the few games in town. Prices are high for Kyoto plus if you don’t order the great(I hear) though pricey food you’re hit with a punitive table charge in the 800-1000 yen range. Sticker shock to put it mildly. If they dropped the table charge or had it at a more reasonable 300 yen I’d probably drop by more. Right now for me it isn’t worth it as it is not the kind of place that is so much fun if you’re on your own.

Good for a quick bite and drink. I wouldn’t stay too long as the bill very quickly adds up here. Service was also quite poor for us and our neighboring tables. Not like bad bad - it was friendly, just seemed swamped. But it was a Friday night, they should have more than 1 dedicated server. Food was pretty good though.

Not the most extensive beer listing but a fun place regardless. Minoh on hadpump and a few taps here. Awesome sake list. The small plates of food they bring to the table was very tasty, smoked and grilled fish, chicken, vegies etc. Sweet place.

They charge you to sit which is a little unfair but the food is great and they offer Japanese craft beers. Some special some not.
