The last beer stop on a long bicycle trip. We had to head back to Bamberg before it became too dark. (Fantastic bikes at 10 Euro a day from Rent-a-bike Bamberg) The brew pub was crowded by locals eating and drinking. A really good Ungespundetes Lagerbier and Kuckuck (Smoked) The latter from bottle. Beer and bike in nice weather in Franken - what else can you demand? (Visited April 29th 2012)

We had been cycling a lot this day. Nice patio to sit down in. Only tried their pils which were quite nice. Popular place, but did not stay long.

Visited March 2012. The sun was shining and it was warm enough for people to sit outside on this March day. I was sat at a table with an older couple who were upset that they had Pils on draught instead of Ungespundetes. I tried two draught beers and two bottles, all of a high quality, especially the Pils and Zwilling. Their rauch bier, Kuckuck, was on draught also, along with a weizen. I moved inside to eat to their pleasant if too light and piny tap room. Good value. There are infrequent regional buses to Bamberg that stop at the Markusplatz.

The pub was closed for holidays, but the brewery was open and a brewery worker gladly sold me a mixed sixpack. Patio looked inviting. Very nice for cyclists to pass by and grab a beer or two.

Greater, quite modern Gasthof with a Brauerei in the backyard. A patio invites bikers, hikers and locals during the warm season. Good for a short break.
