The service here is usually quality w/ a fair selection of beer, msot of which is only average. The food is pretty good but can get pricy and the enviornment is usually pretty loud.

Food is great, but the beer is hit or miss. Iíll never forget how terrible their schwarzbier was or how great their doppelbock was.

The food is excellent while the beer is slightly lacking. Nice place and definitely worth a stop, but their beer isnít out of this world.

The food is definitely the best part about this place, but they have a few good beers as well. They specialize in German lagers and are pretty good at what they brew.

The food is quality, the service is prompt, and the beer is generally good. I try to swing by when I'm in Milwaukee. Personal favorites of their beer selection: Oktoberfest, Weiss.

A good restaurant with decent beers. The bartenders have a good understanding of beers although the waitresses do not. The food is generally good with some German influence. Cool downtown location.

I've visited Water Street several times, and was surprised that it wasn't already on the Milwaukee tour. It's downtown, and the beer isn't exactly world-shaking, and it's more a family-oriented restaurant than anything else (maybe that explains it). Still, the wheat beers have been good even if the rest (pils, oktoberfest, pale, etc) have just been ok. Never got there when they've had the doppelbock. I've mostly had the German food, wursts and such, it's hearty and reasonably well done though not a patch on the "authentic" German restaurants in the city (Maders, Karl Ratsch's). Mostly young, friendly servers -- no point in asking them for real details about the beer.
