74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 wimpyjoe (568) Manchester, England | January 17, 2013 The better of two pubs situated along the stretch of canal through Lancaster city centre, this pub is opposite a basin area and has plenty of outside tables for drinking by the waterside on hotter days. The building itself snugly fits between the water and below the large hospital on a hill above. The decor is modern but uses the brickwork of the buildings throughout as its dominant feature. There’s a separate area for drinking and for dining and there is a deli counter next to the bar. The bar itself includes a row of ales, some changing and a choice from the York Brewery, other specialist lagers are available too. It’s one of the more expensive places to drink in the city. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 worldbeertaste (73) , England | October 25, 2011 Canal Side restaurant and bar. A real favourit of the locals. 8 different casks usually available more unlike any other in the city. Atmosphere is very quiet as its a little away from the buzztle of the main street. CAMRA loves it. The staff tend to be a little impatient sometimes though. Food is a little overpriced. But they do have a sampler for casks. Four 1/3 pints for 3.10 |
