The building looks very picturesque on the outside seeing as how it lies next to the water. There is something almost medieval in its appearance in how it looks like on the outside next to the canal. The inside looks traditional, dark brown appearance and vibes. With two floors and a slight maze-like feel. Sadly the place was terribly packed and gave a confined feel with less people this could be really something. There was no place to be anywhere, all the spots were taken, you couldnít stand anywhere without obstructing the way of the servers. There were even people outside & it was cold outside and no other establishments had people out on the terrace. This appears to be the natural condition of this establishment. We got samples of the 3 house beers and went outside. Sadly none of them were exiting, given how crowded it was I didnít even brows the menu. Service was understandably rushed considering the crowds. They held up well considering the amount of people in here. Not a bad place but a bit too popular for its own good I would say. Food appeared to limited to snacks.

Even though they are open Monday to Sunday, it was closed on my first visit last summer. Open the day after, but had to leave the same day so couldnít enjoy the place as much as I wanted to. Lies down at the canal in an old (looking at least) beautiful building. Sat outside and enjoyed their own beers. Good selection and good service.

Service is not the best, although most of the time pretty friendly it takes them quite a while before they come around to order. Or they ask you without giving the menu first. With more than 100 beers, thatís not evident. Anyway, most of the time theyíre just understaffed. Beer selection is very nice, especially to be in the tourist area, they could get away with a basic 20 beers list. On top of the big beer list, thereís also a draft list of at least 7 if not 10 speciality beers. Food is just finger food (cheese, salami, head cheese, ...) but fairly priced portions. Iíve only had the head cheese with local mustard before, but itís very nice.
MESSAGE FOR FOREIGNERS VISITING GENT: if you read this, youíre probably planning a visit to Belgium, and Gent in particular. Iím always interested to get to know other ratebeerians, and if you come from an interesting country, we can maybe to an in person beer trade? Contact me!

A bit of a quaint place on the canal in Gent. Had a few beers and sat on their small patio. The staff seemed a bit surly when I asked a few questions but what the hell. Enjoyable overall

Ff de keet binnengestapt tijdens BelgiŽ - Schotland, daardoor was de service minder dan wat ik verwacht normaal gesproken. Veel standaard Belgisch spul, mooie lokatie aan t water, en teven wat goede huisbieren

So this is the place you have to visit and seriously canít miss! I had expected a bit more of this place but itís absolutely not bad. Got a couple of their own beers which are nice. Taps have some interesting rotating beers. Service is decent. Pity they had to close their store. Nicely seated area outside, next to the water and cosy and old(er) looking and bit smaller inside.
Beer list is ok, of course only Belgian beers but they got some classic stuff.
All by all decent, just expected more, specially after hearing so many people talk about it... Guess I am spoiled...
