Nice place about a 10 minute walk from Shinjuku. Around 20 taps, 2 handpumps. Decent selection of Japanese micros and some imports (think there were a couple of US micros and a Brewdog). Next door to the bar will be a brewery when they get their license. Pint prices were about usual for Tokyo, round about 1000, maybe a touch more for the imports. Half pint prices were much more than half the pint price though which was a bit weird. Think my pint was 1100 and the half 850. Food looked nice but we didn’t sample this. Few bottles in the fridge including Cantillon but didn’t find out how much they were. Will go back as I liked the place, but will definitely stick to the pints.

Watering Hole is a great example of what a bar should be in 2015. Non-smoking, friendly staff, top-tier service, solid food and a nice selection of rotating taps. The only miss is value. They are one of the more expensive bars in Tokyo (especially w/r/t half-pints). I feel that the staff and the atmosphere really make up for the extra Ą150 per beer though. Best atmosphere in a bar in Tokyo imo. Floor to ceiling windows, high ceiling and a comfortable size.

Conveniently located near the Yoyogi Station and the huge Kinokuniya store in Shinjuku. I love the Watering Hole and would visit more frequently if I lived, worked, or shopped near it. The food is great. All of the people that work there have a real knowledge of beer. The best part is the 3-6 happy hour taster set, which has to be the best deal for craft beer in the city. I can’t wait for my next visit.

Came here at the end of a day long session with Tim Maloney and Chewy. Arrived about 10.30pm and were warned they were closing up. Had enough time for a couple of pints though. Set up is nice with a glass front and a modern and urban style bar with lots of craft brew stickers and American brewing labels and paraphernalia all over the bar. Line up was decent with some good Japanese craft beers alongside American beers. Two I had were in good condition and staff were friendly, offering tastes of different beers. Would come back here again a little earlier to enjoy the ambiance.

Popped in here for a beer, I thought the atmosphere was great, high ceilings simple wood/concrete/maybe fake bricks? look & the service was good. The selection was uninspiring for me, a few good things but I’d already had them and the big thing for me was the sticker shock most half-pints were 800-1000yen! 950 yen for a half-pint of Punk IPA??? If they’d had something I wanted I would have stayed but with those prices I left. My friend living in Tokyo said those prices are pretty average in Tokyo. Highest I ever saw though and I’ve been to most of Tokyo’s top 10 places...

Nice little place. Opens early, huge plus. Major collection of American breweries’ pint glasses. Decent--if limited--selection but good for size. Staff knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely go back next year (when we’re back in Tokyo).

Happy to see another bar with a decent selection open up. Apparently the owner is a homebrewer and plans brew for the bar once the license comes through. About 5 min from Yoyogi station, on a major street so easy to find.

Small ground-floor craft bar nearby Sendagaya. Service is fine. Very good selection of some high quality local drafts and some nice international ones too. Pretty decent value, I’d recommend the 4-draft sampler set (can only order on weekdays before 6pm).

Some interesting beers, but the ambiance was pretty dry, and the service matched.
I wouldn’t make the effort to go back again, unless at a loss and in the area.

A welcome surprise with a great lineup of tap beer plus some bottles. Lots of US brewing memorabilia on the wall and book shelves. Apparently a little brewery will open next door. We had a few food items and they were tasty but a little small for the price. I’ll definitely go back!
