The highlight here is clearly the beer and not the ambiance. The outdoor seating at plastic picnic tables in gravel lot doesn’t do much for me, but the beer was good. Free peanuts help. The guy with the cart selling tamales in the lot provided a little sustenance. Worth a stop for the beer, but a few pints and I was ready to move on.

Located in the river art district, this brewery had a cool vib. Interesting metal art work and stools, good crowd, corn hole boards, nice open shaded area to drink in the Asheville sunshine and Wedges’ great beer

This might be the most chill place to have a beer in America. Wedge is a small brewery in the French Broad river bottom. Almost all the seating is outdoors. The crowd ranges from kids (not many, thank god) to senior citizens to dogs. Real community gathering spot, with killer beer. Probably the best standard IPA in Asheville. Do not miss.

Wedge is close to the river in the arts district of town. It shares a building with various galleries and studios. In keeping with this it’s a bit quirky. The inside is quite small - better, on a sunny day, to be outside where you can throw beanbags (a game called "cornhole" hitherto unbeknown to me, although now I know what it is I’ve seen it in many places since) or just sit in the garden. The garden is quite attractive. It’s adorned with sculptures fashioned from old iron machinery parts and other industrial debris. They’re also reclaiming a patch of land between the bar and the railway line to make a bigger outdoor patio. I was feeling a bit jaded when we visited so I only tried one of the beers - the community porter, which was very good.

Wedge is located in the artistic district (that is a distinct area in town believe it or not) and offers a rather cramped space. Despite the indoors being cramped, the service is prompt and on nice weather days, there is ample outdoor seating and a food truck serving local fare. The brewer is quite willing to talk beer and show off his equipment.

> Quirky, weird, artisy venue with scavengered industrial decor and a large selection of Belgian and American style house beers
>> Popular tasting room in the "wedge" area of Asheville that is the artsy, hipster zone. Unique outdoor and indoor scavenged industrial decor, modern sculptures. No food menu (someone on here rated the food -___- ). 10+ house beers on tap plus a local cider. Large array of styles attempted here: Belgian Strong Ales, IPAs, Stouts, Strong Dark Ales, Lagers, Sours. All over the place. Sort of spread thin in a way as none of the beers were excellent and some were flops. Best part of this brewery is the outdoor cornhole. Nice vibe.

Cool, funky taproom. Around 8 beers on tap when we visited. Sampler flights were not offered (although that may have been due to our large group). The main bartender was not very friendly and pretty off-putting. Only tried 3 of their beers and they were solid. I will come back when there is less of a big group rush to sample all the beers. It seemed like a great place to frequent if you were a local

Funky junky ambiance complete with school bus and bike parts. You know, metal things and art hanging from the wall. Tried two beers and found both in bad shape. A strong Belgian-style golden that was a dirty fruit cup of a beer, and an orange-and-sap run of the mill IPA. Would have enjoyed to sit around a bit, and the proprietors were truly friendly and welcoming. Just wish the beer was better.

Visited during RBWG 2014. A small space around back of a larger building. A nice outdoor space that allowed for a food truck to pull up and serve some food. Service was a touch slow, but place was quite swamped as well. There were about 9 or 10 beers available on tap. Beers were quite cheap. A nice spot and one of the many good breweries in Asheville.

Visited during RBWG 2014. They weren’t ready for a big group, so the bartender took it out on us with yelling. They stopped doing tasters after serving a few people because "it was too busy". Prices were on the high side compared other places we visited. Seems like a nice place to drink, but I wouldn’t go back. Disappointing.

Visited during RBWG 2014. A really funky little spot. They have a decent range of beers with an apparent emphasis on Belgian styles. The quality was generally good. The head brewer came around to meet with the RB crew and to talk with us about the beers - a very nice touch. The place itself is full of all kinds of crazy metalworks and salvage sculpture. The outdoor seating area was quite nice. A fun spot for sure.
