68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 DiarmaidBHK (523) Pennsylvania | April 10, 2011 Probably the first grocery store that carried more craft beer than bmc. Lots of local selections at reasonable prices plus some good seasonals as well. (just pulled a couple of gnomegang bottles. ) they’re in the food court area of the store so you could make a meal of it. They card everyone at the checkout which is bizarre because what underaged kid is buying Ommegang. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 LetsGoState (8) Pennsylvania | September 13, 2010 They have a good selection of beer for being a supermarket. As others have said, they have local/regional brews along with a wide variety of others. It is in the food area, which is actually pretty decent. The prices aren’t terrible and they recently added a pick-your-own six-pack area. Overall a good place to buy beer. | 48 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 2/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 12/20 Nate (258) Indiana, Pennsylvania | April 7, 2010 The State College Wegman’s has some pretty good prices for a lot of regional beers, and the Otto’s bombers are great to find there. I try to get here every couple of months, since it is the nearest branch to me - else I have to go to Whole Paycheck in Pittsburgh, which sells no alcohol. Great produce, seafood, etc. Victory, Penn, Otto’s, Stoudts, Long Trail, Chimay, Troegs, Founders, Unibroue, and tons of others. | 52 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 2/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 13/20 jb (31) Rochester, New York | August 22, 2009 Decent selection of Pennsyvania micros. Have to pay in the restaurant because of the weird PA laws. Will be back though a bit pricy. You can buy prepared food in the area too. | 44 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 1/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 11/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (49) GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania | July 11, 2009 A nice selection for the area and rather good prices overall. They particularly have a nice selection of 22 oz bottles. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 3fourths (1082) Boulder, Colorado | May 29, 2009| Updated April 20, 2013 What CharlesDarwin said - recently allowed to sell beer in the supermarket, so for the south side of town it’s actually one of the better spots to pick up Otto’s, Stone, Troegs, Voodoo, all that jazz. The coolers are located in their cafe where there’s a surprising variety of food to munch on, much of it pretty good. | 64 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20 auerbrau (278) Peace Dale, Rhode Island | May 29, 2009| Updated April 20, 2013 Wegman’s, is sadly one of the better beer selections in State College now. They do have a rather good diversity of local (including Otto’s) and regional brews (Appalachian, Erie, Voodoo, etc.). They also provide a number of 750s and 22oz bottles as singles, which is a nice feature. Probably the best part about having beer at Wegman’s is that you can drink beer in their "Cafe" with food. They do also occasionally host food and beer pairing events. The prices are a little high, but not really all that different from other six pack shops in the area. |
