Visited on a Sunday afternoon. They had all the cider in the window (which is bad) along with with some green glass ( which is worse). Interesting that they don’t have the wine in the window. They do have some good stuff, but the selection is somewhat haphazard and about 40% of the stock is stored on its side. They seem to have randomly picked from Bruisin’s selection and added $.50 to their prices. Disappointing, third tier at this point.

Located across the street from Jack of the wood, Weinhaus as the name informs is mostly about wine. They have two aisles of beer inconveniently located near floor to ceiling windows. They have some locals and the obvious national craft, Belgian, and German options. They have a really lousy pick 6 section as well. Even as a wine store I can’t imagine this is too much of a destination place. As a beer place it’s a complete waste of time. They have practically nothing her you can’t get. 5-6 other places in town. As for the service , it’s not that it was rude but I literally thought either the clerk was dead or had some sort of medical condition that locks one’s eyes onto a computer monitor. Fortunately he wasn’t dead but he did have trouble holding a conversation. Again if you’re looking for a place with an ordinary selection and the potential or sun-damaged beer this is your place.

Atmosphere is more like a rather formal liquor store rather than a laid-back friendly beer seller, but as the name suggest their emphasis is on wine - and they do have an excellent selection of craft brews, including plenty of North Carolina’s best. The man I dealt with was very friendly and helpful as I sought some good beer; unfortunately, recent visits to Bruisin’ Ales and a couple good beer stores in Raleigh meant that I had just about exhausted unique selections. Still, I found a couple brewskis I hadn’t seen before. Their beer selection, as I said, is very good, and I didn’t see any industrial swill, which is a point in their favor. When you visit Asheville, Bruisin’ Ales is the place to shop, but Weinhaus is worth at least a look around. Besides, they’re right next to the Thirsty Monk and very near a reasonably priced hotel.

Used to stop here more often, until Bruisin Ales opened up and blew them away on both selection and price. But to be fair, this place is a wine store primarily, after all. Never have asked for help, as they seem to keep to themselves here; don’t know if that is different when it comes to wine, though. It’s pretty quiet here. Selection is pretty good, but prices seem too high, with the exception of some of the local stuff. They do have growlers for sale, which is cool, but their cooler is small. They also have a decent selection of glassware, if you are in to that sort of thing. It’s not a bad stop, by any means, but it is no longer a destination I seek out.

stumbled to this place after grabbing a few beers at asheville brewing - and a few at jack of the wood - and a few more at thirsty monk... decent selection, but I was mainly looking for local fair. remember that I got a giant champagne-sized bottle of a sweetwater, a french broad and a stone I’d never come across. the owners didn’t know much about it and the prices were I little high. location is great though.

Decent bottle selection covering a wide array of styles, in addition to a lot of wine a a few meads. If you’re in that area of town, it’s a decent stop, but it can’t hold a candle to Bruisin’ Ales’ selection. A few bottles seemed a tad cheaper than other stores in town.

Nice little shop located in the downtown area about a block from Thirsty Monk. On the expensive side, but not terribly expensive and they have a few things you won’t find elsewhere. Average sized selection with a few nice selections here and there, including a fairly spirited selection of English and other foreign beers, which presents a contrast from a lot of the other bottle shops in town. The people there were nice. Not one of the first places to visit, but worth a stop if you have the time.

Nothing overly attractive about the beer selection here, (though I did like the way the bottles were displayed). The draw for this place: location, location, location. Thirsty Monk, Jack of the Wood, and ABC are all within a block or two. Staff seemed like they were trying to just get me out of the place, but I was there first thing in the morning. And the beers were a bit on the pricey side. But worth a peek if you’re already in the area.

Not much for the beer person, but a decent selection if you can’t get up the road to Bruisin Ales. Good selection of wines, with tasting on weekends. I did find a Flying Dog Collaborator for a much better price than any where in town, too.

Probably more of a wine shop, hence the name. Good selection of various bottles. One or two things you may not be able to find elsewhere. Never asked anyone for any kind of service and never had anyone offer it so I can’t say much in that area. Singles and six packs and a pretty big glass selection. Might as well stop by if you’re in the area.
