70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 14/20 Scopey (271) Croydon, England | May 8, 2013 Traditional boozer located in North Sheffield. The sort of place with loads of old bearded dudes supping ale. Nice selection of well-kept ale with four Little Ale Cart brews on when we visited, as well as some local guests. A nice touch is the blackboard behind the bar with descriptions of each beer. Friendly and prompt service and very good value. A worthy stop on a pub crawl in North Sheffield. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 deanso (205) the Hague, Netherlands | October 21, 2012 Nice pub. Good selection of little ale cart brew and other micro’s. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 15/20 Jimmyseats (15) Sheffield, England | May 31, 2012 Great traditional pub in Shalesmoor. Tap house for Little ale cart brewery, around the back of the pub. Ever changing selection of ale cart beers as well as guests. Great staff and very friendly customers. Not sure if the pubs been decorated in 50 years, but that only adds to the charm. Highly recommended. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 DanielBrown (210) Birmingham (via Leicester), England | May 6, 2012 Tap for the Little Ale Cart brewery and had a few of their delicious hoppy Goldens on when I visited. Fantastic multi roomed traditional pub, which is an essential stop on the Valley of Beer crawl. I loved this place. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 cgarvieuk (123) Edinburgh , Scotland | April 30, 2012 Visit during sheffield summer gathering, nice small traditional pub, good selection of cask ales including there own, friendly if heavy on the banter service. Definitly a drinking mans pub but there again its the beer that counts | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 BeeryD (15) , | January 9, 2012 Cosy, authentic, traditional little brew-pub that knows how to look after (and brew) cask ale. Not suited to a young/fashionable crowd but the ’Real Ale Tw*ts’ comic strips on the walls are a win! | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 17/20 ladnewton (144) London, England | February 20, 2011 SUPERB pub very close to Shalesmoor Tram stop and walkable from the Fat Cat and Kelham Island Tavern. Excellent range of handpulled micro-brewery ales often featuring two or three from the adjacent Little Ale Cart brewery. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the beer quality was very good indeed on all my visits including that of Friday 18th February. Nearly all the customers I have met in this pub are friendly and welcoming, and the pub attracts a loyal following among beer tourists and "scoopers" for its constantly changing beer range. Also has a fair number of choice Belgian bottles in the fridge. On my last visit, owner Gary shared a Cantillon Vigneronne with us!The pub is divided into several rooms, all cosy and intimate in their own way, and visiting alone, I found it nicest to sit at the bar and converse with staff and drinkers choosing their beers. Excellent value for money, too. Highly recommended. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 Rune (319) Tromsø, Norway | October 22, 2010 Another awesome pub along the valley of beer trail in Sheffield. About 10 hand pumps displaying well kept real ales from their house brewery called Little Ale Cart and lots of interesting guest ales. Rather small brewpub with a friendly and domestic feel to it. Very pleasant to drink here (visited, 01.10.2010). | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Nightfall (39) Hamburg, Germany | August 21, 2009 [RBESG 2009]. Nice little pub. Very cozy. Nice cask selection. The brewery was a big dirty mess though :D | 58 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 10/20 bierkoning (229) La Tropica, Netherlands | July 29, 2009 Cozy pub, with next to it the Little Ale Cart brewery, one of the dirtiest breweries I have ever seen. Beers are decent though, and available at the pub, next to some guest cask ales.
Lower grade for service, because I think it should be possible to share half pints, in stead of being frowned upon if you don’t order a full pint of every beer. |
