Re-opened to its former glory and better. Great refurbishment, this could bring Wells and Young into the 21st century (maybe). Good selection of Wells Young products and micro breweries, good selection of continental and American beers, great atmosphere, great staff.

Popped in for a pint and a bite to eat while staying in the area. Decent ambience - partially inside an old cellar with bare brick walls and arty portrait photos adorning the walls. Good range of ales - 8 guests. Bottle beer menu contains approx 20 beers from Europe and America but with few surprises. Food was good with big portions - burgers, wraps, steaks and the like. Friendly service. Decent place.

A decent little cellar bar right near Borough Market. Fair selection of cask ales, reasonably priced. I found the service a little weak; I went around lunchtime when it wasn’t busy but the server still took way more time than I would have expected to serve a few pints. Worth a visit if you’re in near the Market. This place would fit in well with a little pub crawl around the the area.

The new location is a beautiful cellar bar, it would be a real pleasure to relax in. Sarnies aren’t super cheap, but were a good size and pucker quality - make this your lunch stop in a Soutwark crawl, perhaps? One of our beers was dodgy, but it was replaced without hesitation, however the barman admitted it tasted dodgy to him when he put it on. Worth a repeat visit next time I’m in the UK, certainly.

Cozy place with a selection of 10-15 British ales - mostly casks in good condition. Friendly service and overall clean and neat. Very close to Market Porter and The Rake.

A pub that has moved from Stoney St., around the corner and a bit further up Southwark Street. The reemerged Wheatsheaf looks very anonymous from the outside, but the stairs opens up a spacious cellar pub with a newish and modern interior design. The long L-shape bar carries 10 operating hand pumps with interesting cask ales. My ales from B & T (Glider) and Nethergate (Augustinian) were in very fine shape. Polite service. Soft indie pop music. Quite likable and relaxing place at least early on a Saturday afternoon. I was in the area for quite a long time and can recommend the following beer crawl: The Rake, Southwark Tavern, Wheatsheaf, Market Porter and shopping at Utobeer (Brew Wharf was closed on this particular Saturday) (visited 30.07.2011).

Nice basement pub with lots of little rooms. Went in the morning, so it was empty. Might not be so nice if crowded. Good selection of taps, though I only had a couple. Looked ok.
