Nice cousy traditional english pub very close to Borough market. Heavy crowded on fridays. But you can drink outside and they have a beergarden you do not see from the outside. Recommendable on all other days than fridays. You will surely find a tick or two you have not tried before.

We visited here on Friday 3rd October 2014. We were with my friend and work colleague John and his friend Allan and were off to a gig (Goat) at the Camden Roundhouse later tonight. You go down into this place, I guess like the nearby Bierkeller this is another cellar bar. The bar is ahead with a healthy selection of handpumps to choose from. I cannot say that the choice impressed me as there was too much dross in and amongst, there was however the likes of Goffs and Nethergate on tap which are fine. Its a tidy place, in fact we’d been here once before with Ang late one evening. Staff were friendly enough, like the Bierkeller its probably worth popping into if in the area and you want to see what they have available, but not somewhere to make a special effort to get to.

Nice cosy interior. Becomes very crowded at night. Nice beer garden. Loads of people, tough to find a seat. Selection is just ok, with nothing exciting but some solid choices. With Brew Wharf, Market Porter and The Rake all within 2 minutes walk I’m not sure I’ll feel the need to come back.

Quite a small and skinny bar but can be served from both sides. Has a cool beer garden type thing which looks like it would be buzzing on the weekend. The beer garden bar wasn’t open on the Monday night I popped in for a drink. Range is ok nothing spectacular. Camden Helles, Doortmund IPA .etc. Service was polite and f\efficient. Not bad for a quick drink

Large Young’s pub by Borough market. The local area is good for beer so I wouldn’t come here as a first choice but the selection was decent with a range of casks and kegs and itbseems to stay open a bit longer than the others so a good place to move on to.

Re-opened to its former glory and better. Great refurbishment, this could bring Wells and Young into the 21st century (maybe). Good selection of Wells Young products and micro breweries, good selection of continental and American beers, great atmosphere, great staff.

Popped in for a pint and a bite to eat while staying in the area. Decent ambience - partially inside an old cellar with bare brick walls and arty portrait photos adorning the walls. Good range of ales - 8 guests. Bottle beer menu contains approx 20 beers from Europe and America but with few surprises. Food was good with big portions - burgers, wraps, steaks and the like. Friendly service. Decent place.

A decent little cellar bar right near Borough Market. Fair selection of cask ales, reasonably priced. I found the service a little weak; I went around lunchtime when it wasn’t busy but the server still took way more time than I would have expected to serve a few pints. Worth a visit if you’re in near the Market. This place would fit in well with a little pub crawl around the the area.

The new location is a beautiful cellar bar, it would be a real pleasure to relax in. Sarnies aren’t super cheap, but were a good size and pucker quality - make this your lunch stop in a Soutwark crawl, perhaps? One of our beers was dodgy, but it was replaced without hesitation, however the barman admitted it tasted dodgy to him when he put it on. Worth a repeat visit next time I’m in the UK, certainly.
