Neat place I stopped in here in Austin. Looks like crap from the outside, but a cool eclectic feel on the inside. Indian type food (though, not what you normally think) and huge tap list (lots of Texas beers). Bottle selection is decent but nothing to call home about. Grabbed my first Jester King brew here and sat with some food and had a good time. Music seems like every night, too (I only came for lunch time). Highly recommended if you are in the area.

A beer store/beer bar/Indian restaurant that is extremely unique. They have a nice outdoor seating area and inside is a bit dark but even have a stage for music. Bartender was extremely friendly and quite knowledgeable. Tons of taps and about 4-5 house beers. Then you have the store which has a ton of bottles as well. Food was great and prices were good as well! Should this place be listed as a brewery? Bar? Beer store? I don’t know, but all I know is it is an absolute must hit!

They have great selection on tap and in the store. A knowledgeable staff , can help you make up your mind. Keep an eye out for their rare and/or aged beer on tap.

Visited here a few weeks ago. Busy and tight parking. Nice bar with some decent on-premises brews. Nice people behind the bar. Great bottle selection. Didn’t eat. Worth a visit when in Austin.

Stopped in on my way to San Antonio - very cool spot. Cross between convenience store, bar, and brew pub. Service was a bit lacking - the bartender didn’t know what I was asking for when it was clearly on their board. Decent selection of bottles in the coolers. I didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food.

Stopped in looking for something specific but they were sold out of it. Hard to get to, on the I-35 outer road. Tight aisle with coolers but good selection. Even better because of the bar. Didn’t drink anything or eat. Great atmosphere inside. Really need to make a return visit to get the full experience.

Heaven for the aspiring beer geek in me. I came in looking for two cask beers they had on tap. Unfortunately, they had emptied them the night before. But they had plenty of other choices, including two casks from Jester King. 70 taps, including 41 local beers. And hundreds of bottles to either drink there or take home. It was Sunday afternoon so we ended up with the manager as our bartender. Very helpful and informative, great service. Whip In is a grocery store/bar with a small amount of indoor seating and a large patio. It is definitely an Austin place. Close to a perfect score as far as I’m concerned, but I would have loved to have the option of 5 oz tasters. (Though they kept the 1 oz samplers coming all afternoon long, so it’s hard to complain.)

This is one of my favorite places to go to drink beer as well as buy hard to find beers. The Tex-Indian food is an added bonus. The staff is very knowledgable and very helpful. The beer selection on tap is amazing (they are great supporter of local breweries) and the bottled beer selection is large, with beers you can’t find anywhere else. If you are in Austin, the Whip In is the place to go.

A lot of people love this place. Maybe because of the localism. When I first went here is was an actual corner store. now it’s transformed in to more of a place to grab a bite, some great craft beer, catch a live band, and have some good draught beer. THe prices in the past have been on the higer side. Lately these have changed to be more reasonable. Overall worth checking out.
