My first trip to this whole foods and I was pretty impressed. As other raters have noted the staff is friendly and helpful, and the growler section has some good deals. Definitely a nice 1-2 punch having New Beer right down the street. Between the two places most folks will be able to find a few things to add to the fridge. For better or worse.Whole Foods buying power is going to give them an advantage on being able to get some hard to get items that are becoming difficult to find.

Great selection of beers, hard to choose what to take and what to leave out. Also have some glassware on sale and brewing supply.

The best Whole Foods in NYC for beer complete with a separate beer room with growler fills, bottles, glassware and homebrew supplies. There was a SlyFox tasting going on when I was there. Tons of bottles - the most Iíve ever seen in a Whole Foods. Good mix between cooler and shelf. Much better service for beer.

My go-to bottle shop. They are open late and have a lot of great choices, at the lowest prices around. There are people who work here who know their stuff. They used to sell a lot of homebrew supplies, but discontinued that. It is sad to say but I think a lot of foks (myself included) have discovered that NYC apartments are not the best places for brewing beer. I could grumble a bit about the growler selection, which can be a mixed bag, but sometimes has some exciting surprises. Make no mistake, this place sets the standard for New York City bottle shops.

Awesome bottle selection, wide variety with reasonable prices (considering the city). A few interesting draft beers to choose from to fill up growlers. Awesome beer store.

Amazing beer selection at this whole foods. 6 or so growler stations to go. Small beer selection inside the main part of the store, but a whole alcove passed the express registers. Amazing selection, well laid out. You can spend quite a bit of money here. An essential stop as far as bottle shops are concerned. Plenty of homebrewing supplies and equipment as well. A very good selection of homebrewing books. Beers seemed a bit on the pricier side of things. A decent amount of cider too. I knocked off quite a few wants list items here.

The staff are really helpful here. Nice tastings as well. Good selection. I really like it here and often make the 50 block trip to find some new things. Not as big as New Beer but I find it more user-friendly...

I was very impressed with the offerings at the beer room. Basically it was most of the things that I have seen in other places locally all in one spot. Quality ranged from 3rd world junk to several nice Belgians. I just wish that New Beer was open when I was there as it is just around the corner. The highlight is really the growler fills which are rather cheap for some very good beer. Staff is highly helpful and are willing to take suggestions for new brands to carry. As a slight correction, they are now advertising that they have 400 bottles, not 200 has the site claims. As far as food goes, Whole Foods is tough to beat on that front disregarding price.

Great place. Very clean, well lit and well organized. Five or six taps are available at all times. The rest of the store has a wide selection of hard to find beers, as well as old stand-bys. The prices are very reasonable, especially for Manhattan. I definitely see better value here than at a lot of places in Long Island.

What every grocery store should aim for- a separate room/store that carries neat shelves of quality beer and even supplies growlers. And the staff wonít bother you if you wish to casually browse. Finally a place for New Yorkers to stock up on some cheap-ER craft beer in the City. #16 on 12102009 DG.
