The Whole Foods Market Beer Room is one of three sections of beer within the whole store. The WF Beer Room doesn’t serve food itself, other than snacks, but it is below and adjacent to a super diversified kitchen with sushi, salads, pomme frites-(!), and a grill. I was amazed by selection of beer ready to go in bottles and by the growler. I noticed the focus of the taps were NY-based craft brewers such as Kelso, Capt. Lawrence, Sixpoint, and Ommegang as the prices seemed reasonable. I look forward to returning.

Pretty amazing selection of imports here. I didn’t really like being in there that much and the employees were only marginally helpful with my rather large haul. Also, the prices were killing me. Still, kind of a must stop if you’re already in the area visiting New Beer or whatever.

A big room filled with a lot of good beers... I wish the Whole Foods in my city had this section!

My first trip to this whole foods and I was pretty impressed. As other raters have noted the staff is friendly and helpful, and the growler section has some good deals. Definitely a nice 1-2 punch having New Beer right down the street. Between the two places most folks will be able to find a few things to add to the fridge. For better or worse.Whole Foods buying power is going to give them an advantage on being able to get some hard to get items that are becoming difficult to find.

I usually stop in here when i visit NYC but will always give the nod to NBD if i’m in a rush. They tend to get in the new releases earlier than the other place and have the edge in growler offerings. Pricing pretty good but often slightly higher, sometimes lower, than the place down the street. If you’re bargain minded it can be tricky to figure out what to buy where. Selection not quite as good and staff sometimes not quite up to speed but generally knowledgeable. Though not factored into my rating, the cheese selection in the grocery is among the best i’ve seen.

Great selection. A little pricey but it is Manhattan. Not much service had a few questions could find anyone to help. If you are looking for a beer distributed to this area you ll likely find it here.

Great store, nice collection of NY beers and some Euro beers, great vibe, friendly people, wish I could stay several more days... or years.

Great selection, maybe the best in the city, though with New Beer Distributors 2 blocks away it’s hard to say. The best part is they get new stuff all the time -- always check the rack next to the checkout, new interesting stuff there every time I go. They recently started carrying homebrew equipment, and I think it’s the only place in the city at this point, but don’t expect much. No one there seems to have any idea what they’ve got, and last time I went they sold be a vial of yeast with a "best before" date 2 weeks prior.
