80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 16/20 maekchu (31) Hirakata, Japan | February 21, 2013 Pretty good selection for a supermarket in Los Angeles. Especially good for micros and not-so-mirros. A small shelf of European (Brit/Ger/Belg) beers and a number of Japanese micros, too. Sx-packs of recent releases stacked here and there. Limited number of singles. There are two sections: one the right and left sides near the back of the store. . Prices are medium to somewhat high -- my son says his friends call Whole Foods, "Whole Paycheck." Not the best of Whole Foods (compared to the Bay Area or Portland), but very good for LA | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 SHIG (175) Anchorage, Alaska | September 27, 2012 Rather large selection for a supermarket. They had many of the locals separated and on display as you walk into the produce. Diverse selection of European, Japanese, and many other countries. Prices seemed rather reasonable as well. Staff was very interactive with seeing if I needed any assistance. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Anova167 (17) Manhattan Beach, California | February 26, 2012 Nice selection of rarer bombers over by the smokehouse/mexican food place, so be sure that you don’t overlook it. Prices are high, but it is worth it for the good selection. Lots of great Cali beers, but also a nice amount of belgians and german hefes. They always have a great selection of Mikkeller that changes often. This location also has a bar with 6 taps as has frequent tastings. They had Deschutes Abyss on tap today. Great food as always. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 MattH (41) California | September 22, 2011| Updated April 12, 2013 I am not really a fan of Whole Foods because of their high prices. With that being said this branch has a great selection of hard to find excellent quality beers. As previous posters have stated the beer is strewn throughout the store in various locations, so you have to really search to see their entire beer inventory. There are also at least three areas to get beer on tap, each with around 4 to 5 taps. So far I have had Festina Peche and Ephemere Cassis on tap. The Happy Hour price for beer is $3, while the regular price is $7. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 toxichop (19) South Gate, California | March 9, 2011| Updated April 12, 2013 I was pissed of the last time I came here. I was looking for some beer but didnt really found anything that would wow me. There janitor came to me and said "a lot of beer huh" I replied yeah. But typical stuff. Then he points out another worker that I believe works in there tapas bar. He was passing by. The Janitos is like "this guy knows a lot about beer. So I start speaking to him. He tells me to check out there smokehouse area which is where they have there seasonal and rare brews. Which I havent done and didnt even know they had beer there. So I go, and what do I found. Like 10 bottles of Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel, some hair of the dog, like 10 diffrent Rogue bottles. My God, Ive been coming here for more then a month and didnt even know about this area. I bought close to 100 bucks of beer. Overall nice place. Clean, with food everywhere. Restroms you can use. And I like the fact that they have signs pointing out the local brews so you can support. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | October 14, 2010| Updated April 12, 2013 On of the better, if not the best Whole Foods I have been to. Food selection is amazing. Very nice beer selection. Consecration for $3 cheaper than I have seen anywhere else. 5 or 6 taps with all good seasonal brews. Very nice place to stop and get some lunch and beer to go. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 BeerandBlues2 (458) Hanover, Maryland | December 15, 2009| Updated April 12, 2013 First, this is the largest Whole Foods I have been in thus far. Second, they have beer all over the store. I mean, the produce section has beer, the hot foods has beer, the cheese bar has beer, the wine section has beer. They are swimming in beer; about 300 bottles to be closer. They seem to heavily favor California brews but also have a nice Belgian selection and some glassware. A nice showing of Allagash too. They have all sorts of hot food ready for you (or me) to grab and take to the hotel room (or your house). | 86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 solitaire568 (1) redondo beach, California | August 12, 2008| Updated April 12, 2013 beer tasting every week on thursday, sunday and monday. special beer tasting events as well. wide selection of belgians, craft beers, local microbrews and everything inbetween. |
