Visited on 21/02/15 during RBWG as only a 5 minute walk from CCB.
Decent sized beer selection, largely US, some European stuff also, Cuvee Rene and the likes. Make your own six pack also on offer. We eat here, pre CCB opening from the ’by weight’ hot buffet. Decent snap.
3 Yeti variants at $9.99 a bomber - what’s not to like?
Bog standard Whole Foods when it comes to beer. Yes, they’ve got some great stuff, it’s seems pretty well kept and the prices are very competitive. But you aren’t likely to find anything particularly fetching here. Still, worth a stop. Especially since this Whole Foods seems to really go for it when it comes to samples. I think I scored about six+ samples on my visit - that’s solid. This place is walking distance from a few other beer venues - most notably Cigar City - so you may as well have a look in.
An OK Whole Food located in a shopping center close to CCB. This branch features a small bar with a few taps in addition to a decent bottle selection. Locals including St Somewhere etc. were available in addition to things from further afield. Moonlight meads were on offer, which was pretty surprising to see. The prepared food quality was pretty mediocre compared to other branches. However, plenty of stations offering free food samples were set up, which was nice. Prices and service quality was as expected.
Right behind Cigar City Brewing and with its own parking deck. In the same shopping center as Total Wine so make sure to stop by both. Prices are good here for the Cigar City and Jolly Pumpkin stuff- sometimes the CCB stuff is cheaper than at the brewery taproom! Found bombers of Ballast Point Sculpin here, new Cigar City releases in 750mL format. Smaller selection but better quality than the Total Wine. Worth a stop if you are visiting Cigar City.
Decent Wholefoods located a short walk from Cigar City. Good selection of US craft beers, but not as good as Total Wines that is in the same complex. RuinTen was on the shelf which is always rather nice. They also have a small bar with 6 taps. To be honest with you I came here mostly for the food and free wifi. Still worth checking out if your in the area.
Visited here in Sept ’08. For a Whole Foods - only average in selection - still light years ahead of any normal grocery store though. Some surprises here - Fish Brewing Poseidon for instance amongst the normal macro-craft/Import offering that most Whole Foods has. Typical Belgians - Chimay, Maredsous, Rochefort, etc. Some local flavor with variety packs of Florida Beer Company’s Ybor line and some St. Somewhere but no Dunedin to be found. I was able to pick up about four that I had not rated - which is about what I expect these days in a Florida store.
Another Tampa spot that I never rated. Right next to CCB, a good selection of craft beers with many seasonal beers. Good time to buy some cheeses as well and bread.
Beside that, they sport many local FL products which is a very nice way of supporting local producers.
Always very nice and friendly service, and of course the very ’eco friendly’ buy bio retail style corporate feel. Really targets customers who can afford shopping there.
