Very modern rustic feel to the place when you walk in, and because it’s so new everything is still very clean. Service was very good, not too overbearing while still helpful and knowledgeable about their beers. Selection was great, although only their brews there was something for everyone, all different styles from basic APA to Bourbon Aged Imperial Stouts, to Cherry Sours. Food was fantastic; modern American gastropub type fair, and pretty reasonably priced. Good value compared to everywhere in town, cheaper beers and moderately priced food. Great place, a must stop now in Asheville; well done for being so new.

Huge, huge place with a huge kitchen and huge brewery downstairs. Not really what I expected from such a small brewery. Nice look to it. Very modern. Loud. Both upstairs and downstairs. Decent service. Still can’t believe how big this place was for a startup.

Very nice brewery downtown. One of the first places to hit up in Asheville. Good selection of their own beers and nice flights to sample a variety. Visited with josh, brian, and Brandon on way to Aseh in 2015.

Beer lover’s paradise . All the beer I taste was awesome and the staff was knowledgeable. They recommend me a beer pairing for my burger that was really good. The place was busy but service was perfect. I will travel to Asheville again just for that place.

Great selection of beers across a wide range of beer styles. Note that there are two different menus between upstairs and downstairs. I suggest putting your name on the list upstairs but head downstairs to try the hop based beers below. Downstairs has a sick outdoor patio that can accommodate 75+ people. Easy access to the bar with very good service makes this brewery a great choice!

Nice building, open with a big bar you can see the kitchen from the tap room, very good staff. Downstairs is a more relaxed atmosphere with big bench tables, brewing equipment right there with brewers doing their thing, great smells and sights. Beer is fantastic, great selection of different styles, sours are fantastic. Really great, wish I lived closer to this place.

Wonderful place. First the ambiance: nice rustic atmosphere, good music; it was even great for my kids. The service: wonderful. First thing the server did was bring water for my kids. The staff was pleasant and accommodating for our entire stay. Selection: high for a brewpub. Lots of IPAs, which I love, Saisons, and some funky beers from the Funkatorium. They were out of 4-5 beers, though, which was unfortunate. Still didn’t keep me from trying two completely different 6-beer flights. And the quality of the beer is TOP NOTCH. The food was delicious. My wife and I both had the fried chicken sandwich, which was wonderful. And even the kids’ chicken fingers were very good. Very good value for the high quality of food and beer. Overall an outstanding place that I would like to visit many more times before I die. Too bad I live a 12 hour drive away.

Visited for lunch. Beer is awesome, food is very good, ambiance is sort of Southern grunge, no pretentiousness which I love, but just doesn’t feel homey or quite as hospitable as it should. Downstairs bar is fun with the outdoor part, and upstairs is economical with space, but not a place I’d ever see myself being a regular (or at least not if the beer weren’t so excellent). As a place, it’s a must hit at some point, but not a place I’d frequent as much as I should if i were from NC.

This is an amazing place. We arrived late from Virginia and were told their 29 beers are available in the basement. Large long tables were full of beer drinkers. parking was initialy a problem until we discovered the Aloft public parking. No growler fills on Friday and Saturday and no flights after 7 PM. 1 TV on the main floor. We came for lunch on Friday. Due to their rules I was unable to taste more of their beers. The ones I had were good. This is must stop when in Asheville.

“Hops are a pernicious and wicked weed” remarked King Henry VIII, English monarch and wife beheader. And from this, we have a perfect name for a perfect brewpub. While the term “must visit” might be considered cliché by some it, nevertheless, is a term that should be heeded when in Asheville, since no visit here can be considered complete without a stop at this world renowned brewery, one that has taken the craft beer world by storm – another cliché. Conveniently located on Biltmore Avenue in a cream-colored art deco structure that may have once been a car dealership or body shop, Wicked Weed is an attractive venue that welcomes everyone regardless of their need of that pernicious weed. In front, there is a spacious patio with tables, benches and an outdoor fireplace. The main dining room is airy and sleek with an open industrial feel to it. There is a long bar in the middle amid several tables and hightops. To the right we see a large mural of the aforementioned Henry glowering over the entire scene. (On the outside wall is a rear view of Henry’s head, which unlike those of the unlucky Anne Boleyn (Wife 2) and Katherine Howard (Wife 4), remains on his fat neck. Wicked Weed is an extremely popular place to meet, drink and eat and can become accordingly crowded. If you head to the left there is a staircase leading down to the atmospherically rustic tasting room, where an additional array of beers can be enjoyed. Beers can be purchased here as well. The Upstairs Bar offers about 15 taps that included plenty of styles for all palates: Freak of nature IPA, Lunatic Blonde, Hops Are Heresy, Reticent Saisson, a single hop concoction called Lupulin Lab and a tangy sour called Perzik Mort. (Wicked Weed recently opened another venue, Funkatorium, which specializes in sour ales.) Food-wise, the menu was loaded with a wide variety of eclectic dishes, one being my choice of bratwurst and pub hash, the latter being Very Good. Bar service was excellent and efficient and the prices reasonable with a choice of full pours and (10 ounce) samplers. Be sure to check out the restrooms and the Men’s’ Room with another portrait of the glowering Henry – his wives adorn the Ladies Room, natch. Wicked Weed is most definitely a Must-Visit – an apt cliché.
