Very modern rustic feel to the place when you walk in, and because itís so new everything is still very clean. Service was very good, not too overbearing while still helpful and knowledgeable about their beers. Selection was great, although only their brews there was something for everyone, all different styles from basic APA to Bourbon Aged Imperial Stouts, to Cherry Sours. Food was fantastic; modern American gastropub type fair, and pretty reasonably priced. Good value compared to everywhere in town, cheaper beers and moderately priced food. Great place, a must stop now in Asheville; well done for being so new.

Visited for lunch. Beer is awesome, food is very good, ambiance is sort of Southern grunge, no pretentiousness which I love, but just doesnít feel homey or quite as hospitable as it should. Downstairs bar is fun with the outdoor part, and upstairs is economical with space, but not a place Iíd ever see myself being a regular (or at least not if the beer werenít so excellent). As a place, itís a must hit at some point, but not a place Iíd frequent as much as I should if i were from NC.

This is an amazing place. We arrived late from Virginia and were told their 29 beers are available in the basement. Large long tables were full of beer drinkers. parking was initialy a problem until we discovered the Aloft public parking. No growler fills on Friday and Saturday and no flights after 7 PM. 1 TV on the main floor. We came for lunch on Friday. Due to their rules I was unable to taste more of their beers. The ones I had were good. This is must stop when in Asheville.

ďHops are a pernicious and wicked weedĒ remarked King Henry VIII, English monarch and wife beheader. And from this, we have a perfect name for a perfect brewpub. While the term ďmust visitĒ might be considered clichť by some it, nevertheless, is a term that should be heeded when in Asheville, since no visit here can be considered complete without a stop at this world renowned brewery, one that has taken the craft beer world by storm Ė another clichť.
Conveniently located on Biltmore Avenue in a cream-colored art deco structure that may have once been a car dealership or body shop, Wicked Weed is an attractive venue that welcomes everyone regardless of their need of that pernicious weed. In front, there is a spacious patio with tables, benches and an outdoor fireplace. The main dining room is airy and sleek with an open industrial feel to it. There is a long bar in the middle amid several tables and hightops. To the right we see a large mural of the aforementioned Henry glowering over the entire scene. (On the outside wall is a rear view of Henryís head, which unlike those of the unlucky Anne Boleyn (Wife 2) and Katherine Howard (Wife 4), remains on his fat neck. Wicked Weed is an extremely popular place to meet, drink and eat and can become accordingly crowded. If you head to the left there is a staircase leading down to the atmospherically rustic tasting room, where an additional array of beers can be enjoyed. Beers can be purchased here as well.
The Upstairs Bar offers about 15 taps that included plenty of styles for all palates: Freak of nature IPA, Lunatic Blonde, Hops Are Heresy, Reticent Saisson, a single hop concoction called Lupulin Lab and a tangy sour called Perzik Mort. (Wicked Weed recently opened another venue, Funkatorium, which specializes in sour ales.) Food-wise, the menu was loaded with a wide variety of eclectic dishes, one being my choice of bratwurst and pub hash, the latter being Very Good. Bar service was excellent and efficient and the prices reasonable with a choice of full pours and (10 ounce) samplers.
Be sure to check out the restrooms and the Menísí Room with another portrait of the glowering Henry Ė his wives adorn the Ladies Room, natch. Wicked Weed is most definitely a Must-Visit Ė an apt clichť.

Sitting in the downstairs bar as I type this. As beautiful as a craft beer bar could be. Amazing stained copper bar, beautiful gnarly grey stone walls contrasting nicely with the thick gnarly wood pillars. 20 taps down here, each in sets of 5 literally attached to the ends of an actual barrel. This is what you get when a skilled brewer gets to dream of their dream brewpub. And itís extremely charming. Even the choice of music is the best Iíve ever heard in any establishment. I keep wanting to ask the bartender whatís playing. Speaking of the bartender, this guy has to be the most amusing, entertaining behind-bar person Iíve ever interacted with. Heís hilarious, but isnít trying to have a conversation with me. Perfect. There are 20 taps of Wicked Weed beers downstairs alone, most of which Iíve never had, and so far all are fantastic... How could I complain about selection? I havenít tried the food yet, but Iíve seen enough plates go by to know that itís extremely promising and upper-end.. Plan on trying the food later. Will update on value when I get my check, too. But overall, this place is a brewpub wet dream come true. Maybe even better than my home spot, Jackie-Oís. Love it.

This Wicked Weed spot has a pretty great location (especially if you are staying at the ALoft). We rounded out an evening here, and tried only a couple of the small bites, but they were pretty tasty. The upstairs part is kind of a cool looking brewpub with a nice atmosphere. Downstairs is more of a cozy brewery feel. It looked like they had an amazing outdoor set-up as well (fire pits out front, long tables out the back of downstairs), but we didnít try that out since it was a rather cold winter night. They had a large selection of house beers, though a few on the menu were kicked. I was a fan. Between this place and the Funkatorium, Wicked Weed is giving its customers a great drinking experience.

I canít say enough good things about this place.... Only had enough time for one stop while passing through Asheville and we were definitely not upset with our choice. Huge number of taps and despite them all being all house beers, Iíd challenge you to not find a single one you liked. Plenty of variety in their offerings, but as a sour/wild beer fan, I focused my efforts between those and the saison offerings. The place is quite huge with indoors, outdoors, downstairs bar, and downstairs outside area yet this place still filled to the brim not long after opening on the Saturday we visited. The food certainly didnít disappoint either and was equally excellent. I canít wait to go back to this place a visit their sour-focused Funkatorium just down the road.
