56 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 16/20

Small crowded pub. Nice arched cellar rooms downstairs where the live music is played most nights. Selection is decent for a regular pub, but not overly exciting from a beer geek perspective. Not far from Monk’s Porter House and on the way from there to Akkurat, but not really worth visiting if it is beer ticks you are after, but worth it if you want to hear some band playing in a small cellar.

My first impression of Wirströms was that it was like an English pub but, looking on their website now, I see it’s billed as an Irish pub and sports bar. It could be seen as cosy, quirky and authentic or – less charitably – as dark, muggy and cramped. It certainly has an interesting layout, with lots of nooks and crannies on different levels. The beer list didn’t hold much attraction for me as it seemed to have almost exclusively English and Irish ales, and nothing much out of the ordinary.

A smallish beer-oriented pub in the old town of sthlm. Cozy, but a bit small and cramped. Considering the size of the establishment, the number of taps is impressive. Features quite well-known brands, with a couple-four pouring smaller Swedish brews. The food is ok barfood (tried the club sandwich). Not that cheap, but pretty much in line with what places charge for decent service & selection around there.

A rather poor draft list and hooligan fans (okay, it was hockey night) stinking it up inside. small outside seating area. I’d rank this as the worst Gamla stan spot on ratebeer.

Came here as Monk’s Porter House wasn’t open. Nice and quiet place with good service. Selection ranges from classic British beers to classic Belgian beers, such as Maredsous 8, which was on tap. Some Swedish macros as well. Whisky selection is quite nice. Didn’t try out the food.
