Woodwork is not really a beer fanatic’s bar. It advertises itself as New York’s prime soccer bar. Three widescreen televisions are mounted above the L-shaped bar showing soccer/football matches. However, they do not record the games and reshow them, they just screen whatever is available on sports TV. It is owned by a chef, so they supposedy take pride in their food selections. On the day I was there they had a few meat and cheese sandwiches, and a quinoa salad, something I have never seen available in a bar before. There are a few craft brews and imports available, but there was nothing out of the ordinary. Woodwork is located on a rapidly gentrifying stretch of Vanderbilt Avenue that is getting to be an interesting place to visit. And Woodwork is worth a visit too, especially if you like soccer. They could work on their beer list a little if they want to attract more Ratebeerians.
