68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Rastacouere (606) Montreal, Quebec | October 10, 2012 A large pub in trendy Yaletown which was surprisingly family-friendly. Rather large terrace in the heart of this nicely revamped industrial neighborhood. Plenty of brick and wood make for a relatively warm feel in this place that feels more like a restaurant than a pub. The food was excellent, I had a tasty and pretty filling seafood paella for a very reasonable $16. The pizzas looked really good on a nearby table. The beers are rather simple interpretation of classic styles, but they were all clean, just careful not to shock any newcomer to the world of craft beer.
| 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 fiulijn (282) Malmö, Denmark | August 29, 2011 Being just 2 blocks from my "office", this one became a regular stop the few times I was there, after office hours. In August 2011 I had the chance to be there for 2 Thursday Night Cask, and the IPA was lovely. Also a few of the other beers are good. Food is ok. The atmosphere is nice. | 68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 BigBoi (1) , | July 4, 2011 Pretty nice location. Beer is not too special. Great bar food. Nice staff yet slightly slow. Overall a nice visit for a few beer but nothing too special. The seasonal beer is really the only thing worth trying, yet pricey. | 46 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 8/20 mcberko (134) Vancouver, British Columbia | April 7, 2011 Pretty average quality beer with the same taps on year-round except for one seasonal which is usually worthwhile, especially the adventurous (for Yaletown) Rocket to Russia Bourbon Oak-Aged Imp. Stout which was on during my visit. $6.75 for a 16 oz. glass of the year-rounds and $7.75 for the seasonal - quite pricey! Would only really come back (for beer) if there was a worthwhile seasonal on tap. But all in all, a decent option if you want a real beer and are stuck nearby. Otherwise, there are many superior options in the near vicinity. Doesn’t hold a candle to the sadly now gone Dix. | 70 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 mnurda (61) Winnipeg, Manitoba | December 22, 2010 Extremely cool place. Would like to g back and eat there. Was only there for a brief period of time | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 12/20 turboespresso (25) Port Moody, British Columbia | June 12, 2010 I’ve been here a dozen times in the last decade, and it hasn’t changed much. Interior is kind of cool. I like the wooden beams and renovated warehouse look. It’s pretty casual : you can play pool or watch the game on TV. I find it a little on the dark side. Clientele can be pretty yuppie-ish. Service is decent and generally knowedgeable. There are 8 taps of beer brewed on premises and the quality of beer is decent. A glass is pretty pricey: $6.75. Ouch! Nevertheless, I’ll be back. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 11/20 Gravelle (13) Vancouver, British Columbia | November 26, 2009 They make pretty good beer, but it’s in Yaletown, so pretentious central. Rubs off on the staff. Not a must stop on any level. Too bad, moving along. Ohya thanks for the free meal... | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 jbrus (138) Delft, Netherlands | May 7, 2009 Didn’t really like the place. Staff wasn’t too friendly and the atmosphere was ... well ... not my thing. Almost empty room with just a few standing tables and black. Almost cheap appearance IMO. The beers aren’t great either. | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 Sammy (466) Toronto, Ontario | February 21, 2008 Another brewpub owned by a corporation (same as DIX) with trained staff. Above average high ABV beers, a good touristy downtown location. Good sized bar and fairly busy for a Monday night. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 presario (141) Stampede City, Alberta | November 5, 2007 Cold rainy November day in Vancouver and a brick and wood interior with a fire going! Not sure about the tiny tables in the bar, the red table cloths or the shape of the chairs. Looked a bit weird but the chairs were more comfortable than they looked and it was a good spot for beer on this day. A couple of intriguing choices on draft. Pizza was good with paper thin slices of green apple although the crust was a bit soft. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable enough about the beer to hold a conversation and offer recommendations. |
