We went there on Monday around 7 p.m. Beautiful old-ish looking place where you go more for ambiance/history than for beer. Not much light (it add to the ambiance). Staff was quick to deliver beer, but not really friendly. Selection is only Samuel Smith, but thereís a decent variety of their beers on tap and in bottles. Thereís some food, but we didnít tried it. Prices are fair for London, but considering how cheap Samuel Smith beers are worldwide, it was a little expensive. A nice place to go with friends who arenít beer geeks. A must-visit once for the place itself and for the ambiance, but the selection isnít enough to keep you happy longer than for one or two visits.

If ever in London this is an absolutely GREAT pub to visit just for the building. Make sure you head to the basement floor amazing ambiance. Selection is purely sam smiths but very good value. You must visit this pub at least once!

Nice pub set on fleet street with the entry set aside. Dark wodden panaled inside with a tiny bar at first but covering several floors which expand out. Also a restaurant and pub grub was available though i did not have any but it looked pretty good and typically Sam smith priced which is unusual for London. Sam smith on tap and several different bottles available, too. Service was average non-smile London type with London prices for a pint. Overall a good pub though really worth the visit taking in the atmosphere and beer...

It is a place you have to visit just for the history. You are transported back the minute you step through the door. Not a huge selection but enough for you to enjoy the atmoshere and friendly service. Look closely from the street and find the small alley to the entrance.

No matter why you are in London, you simply have to visit this awesome pub :-) First time i visited this great place I had a lovely chocolate cake and a Taddy Porter, and I loved it. This old pub, time seems in one way to have stand still and yet its a perfect place to go for a beer, some food or some cake and coffee if you are touristing ( or pub crawling ) in London.. The pub have several rooms, fireplaces in each room, friendly staff amd beers are in a good condition... Make sure you visit this historic pub at least once :-)......

I didnít want to ever leave this place. You can walk in there in the middle of the day and lose all sense of time within minutes. Open fireplace with ashes everywhere. Nitro beers. Low ceilings. Timeless. Love it.

Well worth a visit for a great historical pub dating from the 1660ís. Sam Smiths so cheap for London but boring Sam Smiths cask. Iíve nomally gone for something of the keg taps - bottles are pricey! Split over 3 levels all downstairs from the entry - the feeling is cellars/dungeons - good atmosphere and usually fairly packed with a youngish crowd of office workers and some tourists of a weekday evening. No destination for good beer (simply adequate/below average for London) - but for a slice of history you should hit this one up!

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese is a without doubt a classic London Pub. A great place to take non-beer type visitors to experience a traditional public house. Inside itís a bit of a warren Ė full of dimly-lit rooms with sawdust on the floor and fireplaces and such like. The beer is good value Samuel Smiths, so do yourself a favour and order an Oatmeal Stout or Taddy Porter and soak up the atmosphere. If you havenít been here before a visit is a must.
