WoW what a lovely charming place. I have passed this place many times without knowing it is there. Not to easy to find. The best room was kind of third level down stairs. Good variety of Sam Smithís. I did not see anything else. Could get small glasses if you wanted to try them all also. Lovely ambiance. A kind of must visit.

The Olde Cheshire Cheese could be a very nice pub but my experience there was adversely affected by the atrocious service, the long queues (literally - queues!) to be served and the arrogant gits blocking the bar. Oh, and the toilets were pretty poor too. The front bar and the little rooms off are certainly atmospheric but some of the downstairs rooms, together with those upstairs, are now given over to dining. There was no elbow room in the front so we went through to the larger back bar. There were two staff doing everything - serving drinks and food as well as clearing away - and not only were they very slow, they were clueless. There are four casks (all Sam Smithís), a few keg taps and perhaps 20 bottles. We decided to have a bottle of Sam Smithís Imperial Stout, which was delicious, although my mood wasnít improved when, having finally got to place our order, the barman had no idea where to find a bottle opener. Stop here for location and ambiance alone. All Sam Smith brews. Well worth a pint and a look around.

Great ambiance - dark, low ceilings, original beams - the lot. Casks and taps are a good variety of Sam Smithís. A place beer lovers will appreciate while beergeeks may frown upon.

Amazing old pub in a very busy area. It reminds you of the good old days. Nothing much on beer, if you are looking for craft beer. Its mostly Sam Smith cask ales. If you are into the pub culture, then you must visit.

Central location. Nothing wrong with Sam Smithís beers, but they are not the draw here. Itís the sort of atmosphere you want to drink in - a proper old pub rather than a modern bar. I have to rate it down for selection etc, but itís been a personal favourite for some time.

All so can say is this place is all about its ambiance. I guess itís arguably Londonís oldest pub. Service was good while we were there, but they were real busy, I mean it was busy, just not max busy. Beer selection is limited as they are a Sam smith house. Food was Basic English pub fare. Was good, not great. Itís all about the character of the place good for a visit, but I wouldnít go here much, with better offerings in the area.

Surprisingly much space in a variety of different bars. Ended up in a somewhat younger part of the pub - a room with 25 seats. Ca. 10 beers on tap. Large selection of dishes incl. pies, sandwiches, salads, burger, ribs etc. On tap: ..Samuel Smith Taddy lager, Double four lager, Alpine lager, Pure brewed organic lager, Extra Stout, Old brewery bitter, Organic wheat beer, Dark Mild.

We went there on Monday around 7 p.m. Beautiful old-ish looking place where you go more for ambiance/history than for beer. Not much light (it add to the ambiance). Staff was quick to deliver beer, but not really friendly. Selection is only Samuel Smith, but thereís a decent variety of their beers on tap and in bottles. Thereís some food, but we didnít tried it. Prices are fair for London, but considering how cheap Samuel Smith beers are worldwide, it was a little expensive. A nice place to go with friends who arenít beer geeks. A must-visit once for the place itself and for the ambiance, but the selection isnít enough to keep you happy longer than for one or two visits.
