Lots of hustle and bustle here, since it’s located at the station; in fact the patio tables are right on the platform. Inside is a large round central bar and bar tables. Good place to watch the world come and go. Good tap list, on a chalkboard facing the platforms. Efficient staff. A must stop while in York, but be ready for crowds.

Unlike some of the other station platform ’Tap’ pubs in Yorkshire, this one does allow access from both the street and train side as there’s no barriers at York, making it extremely useful for a final drink or two before heading wherever. This pub is much more than that though, and is worthy of some quality time too, having a plethora of rotating cask ales located all over the circular central service area. The traditional well kept pub seating is either side of here, there’s a fair amount of it and dogs are allowed.

Award wining conversion of the old station tea rooms, which spent many years as a model railway exhibition. 18 hand pumps dispense a constantly changing range of beers from all over the country. It’s customers are a strange mix of beer geeks, and people having a drink before their train. The major downside is that there is never enough staff on and you can wait a while at busy times. Prices aren’t cheap either. Food is limited to pork pies and sandwiches. A must visit

Pretty large place just by the railway station. Airy, lots of space. Large, round bar with more than 30 taps. Not many people in during our visit. Besides really good tap selection they have a decent bottle selection. A must visit while in York.

Dropped by a few times over the past year or two. The central bar has plenty of good beer on cask and keg. Prices are maybe a little steep, service is OK. Beer is well kept as you’d expect from the Tap pubs. There’s an area outside to relax and watch people and trains go by. Really hand for a quick beer at the station. Recommended

It’s a Pivovar bar. So you can expect a good choice of beer (although this one seems to concentrate more on local stuff). It’s in good condition, with a rapid turnover. You can also expect tables awash with spilled beer and empty glasses. Put Wellington boots on to go to the toilets. You’ll need them. Failing that, nip down the station platform. They’re a lot cleaner. And that’s saying something. Lovely building. Cheap fixtures and fittings. The staff are very pleasant, but there aren’t enough of them.

Visited three times 24/25 October ’14. One of the very best pubs in York. Outstanding, well kept selection of cask and craft keg beers, very good service, pork pies were good too

Hard to beat the location right in the train station, with access via the platform and front entrance. A big selection so you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding something to try whilst you play the waiting game for your train arrival.

Review Sep ’14, 78. One year on from our first visit, this has become enormously popular. The building remains light and open but becomes overcome a little by the weekend Stag and Hen parties. The Gents toilets are a mess unfortunately, so there is a tiredness in here, the service is a little less welcoming. The beer range continues to be extensive.
Review Sep ’13, 86. A superb conversion into a pub within York Station, it has a light and open feeling despite being in the covered area, you also get the feeling of being within a busy area. The beer range is excellent with choices for everyone. We both thoroughly enjoyed our first visits here.
