super busy part of of town right by Federation squares almost makes this a touristy place. Weird mixture of people from tourists to locals, certainly no hard core craft drinkers. 16 taps of commonly found Australian ales. Very English, but comes with a wait at the door, rope line and security guards. Nothing to see here, move on by.

Located in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. It is a local icon and has a very Australian character. They have a good number of beers on tap including some craft beers that rotate on a fairly regular basis. The food is quite good and the prices seem reasonable. It is an interesting place to check out and don’t forget to see Chloe.

Went there on a Sunday night for a meal. Got to say that the service was pretty inconsistent, and verged on incompetent at times. Selection in the upstairs bar was fairly limited, although to be fair my choices possibly weren’t the best. Still, this is a Melbourne icon and it would be remiss to bypass it.

Haven’t been here in years but thought I’d pop in for old times sake. Beers from Feral, Bridge Road, Mountain Goat, Stone & Wood and other less exciting ones. It’s always busy given the location by Flinders St. Station. They do get some more interesting brews every once in a while.

Pretty decent place in the heart of Melbourne. There was a decent live band playing when I was there on a busy saturday night. The selection was ok and prices were pretty decent considering the location. I didn’t have any food. Pretty cool place although more of a loud aussie pub rather than a great beer pub.

Chloe’s Bar @ Young and Jackson. Part of a bigger complex of a diner, tapas bar, cider bar and a restaurant, 6 taps with Micros, 25 bottled. So and so as a beer geek’s first choice, more of a wine bar. Service OK and staff is friendly. Very nice sitting area with bunch of sofa groups and few dining style tables.

Nice pub opposite Flinders St Station which is a bonus. Decent selection of beers considering the upstairs bar. Also nice to see Chloe when I’m in Melbourne.

Great atmosphere. Lots of charm, wooden panels and comfortable seating. THe carpet is really showing it’s age though! Tap list is pretty straight forward, but they do have a Brewery showcase monthly on the second floor, which definitely spruces up the options. Great location too. Bottle shop next door is horrendous (Macros and BASIC micros only).

We first went there on a sunday arvo and came across a most excellent selection of craft beers on tap and a blues band that was rocking the house. This pub is old and unashamedly Australian. There were 8 different awesome tap beers on the lower floor including Mad Brewers Noir Stout, Bridge Rd Bling IPA, Feral Hoghead to name a few favourites. ON the second floor they have a bar devoted purely to one selected craft brwery which changes every few months. It was Bridge Road when we visited, I believe it is now Matilda Bay. On the rooftop is a cider bar which we also hit a few times during the week we were over there. All in all, a great Aussie pub with great Aussie beers and ciders.
