72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 sebletitje (228) Enghien, Belgium | January 26, 2012 Lived in Tampa 13 years, had to visit this the month prior to moving back to Belgium. Irony.
Tampa landmark, as pointed out by Mark, old Schlitz building can’t miss it while driving Eastbound on Fowler Ave.
Inside (welcome center) feels like the clock stopped in the 80s, got this very old feel to it.
Tour available, I guess it’s just a brewery like any other big breweries. Small samples available after the tour. The American way requires a stop at the souvenir shop where all kinds of memorabilia await.
Good place, drink local. All the Yuengling you can imagine, with the usual seasonal. Good to visit, but retains the very corporate feel, and as it stands, Tampa has a lot more to offer beerwise and brewery wise that would appeal to my tastes. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 markwise (157) North of Tampa, Florida | June 23, 2011 This is a Tampa landmark and a darn nice place to visit. Realize that it is on the tourist radar, though, and you never know when a bus full of bluehairs will pull up and you will be taking the tour with them. It is a nice tour done by nice people who will happily pour samples at the end. The facility is huge, the people are nice, and it is an interesting hour. While the brands are not incredibly diverse, the beer is crafted by people who care. Overall a nice time. | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 fata2683 (131) Tucson, Arizona | June 18, 2011 I thought this granted being entered because if you like historical places you should check this out. When you take the tour you learn that this brewery has existed for a while and started at a Shlitz brewery then became a Pabst brewery before finally becoming a Yuengling brewery. The tour is free and you get 2 free beers afterwards. Lots of neat information on the brewery itself, the water source and more. Honestly it’s worth the trip to me because it’s free and a neat old brewery. |
