You have now left the pacific northwest. Please return your seat to the full upright position. This place makes no bones about wanting to be your full-service Minnesota culinary depot. They actually seem to celebrate all things upper midwest/great lakes, with NFC North football posters from every team, cheese curds, chicago dogs, Michigan beer, and every junky combination of tater tots and other artery-clogging comfort food you can imagine.
You walk in and it’s a celebration of every cool old lighted and motorized beer sign you can imagine from our latitude--Rainier, Oly, Hamm’s, Leinenkugel, Old Style. From Puget Sound to Lake Erie, they have tons of cool electric beer signage from the 60s and 70s.
The old-school decor extends to the beveled wainscoting, the Farrah Fawcett poster over the urinal in the men’s, the Burt Reynolds Playgirl centerfold in the women’s (two girls in our group proudly displayed their iPhone photos of Burt upon returning to the booth).
The service is super friendly and funny and right on top of it in every way--really nice and easy-going staff. They know the menu, they know how to orchestrate substitutions, they know the beers. They’re on it.
The menu is a showcase for how cardiologists get multiple summer homes. Deep-fried cheese curds, chili cheese tots, poutine, sloppy joe dogs, mac and cheese, mac and cheese PIZZA, a couple dozen other pizzas, including breakfast pizzas. And, yes, they serve breakfast, too. The pizzas are awesome, tons of flavor, thoughtfully prepared, great crackery thin crust.
The crowd here is friendly and fun. Last night, it featured the world’s loudest Seahawk fan. Every big play, good or bad, she made some kind of noise that made me think somebody either broke in and tripped the burglar alarm or the tea was ready. And this was just pre-season. And that’s what I like about Zayda Buddy’s. You don’t have to wait for the regular season. This place goes all the way to the wall with starch and grease and beer 365 days a year.

A real "Midwestern-style" bar! Wood paneling, old beer cans on the shelves, and mounted trout on the walls. Reminds me of every Wisconsin relative’s basement I’ve ever been in. I go here to watch the Packers games during football season. Just a little taste of home...
