I was told about this place 5 years ago by some friends who used to travel to SF regularly. I’ve been meaning to check it out ever since but never got around to it. Glad I finally did.

Its similar to Toronado in that it’s cash only, has a good tap selection, has decent music, and grumpy servers. The differences are that it’s much more open, has a nice patio area, and does pitchers. When I was there they had half a dozen Ale Industries beers on tap. Got glasses of the Pink Drank (raspberry sour) and the Agent Ned Flanders (flemish bruin) and got a taste of the Evolution generation 5. Most of the people coming to the bar were getting pitchers of El Toro Poppy Jasper which was neat to see, and a few of them got pitchers of Stella. They also serve beer in quarts if you want more than a pint.

Love the moody alternative attitude of this place. Good beer selection, massive outdoor area complete with BBQ. This place is a San Fran must.

The scene at this place is interesting - an odd mix of metal and hipster that I haven’t encountered before, but somehow works. Expect lots of young, tattooed people with a few middle-aged professionals mixed in. The beer list was solid, but the real highlight was the awesome beer garden out back. Great place to hang out.

Stopped in here for a couple of beers on a Sunday afternoon. Very loud metal indoors, and huge crowd outside in the beer garden. Very young crowd with lots of extracurricular activity happening. Beer selection was good and the bartenders were nice. Other than that, this is not my type of place.

Lovely dive bar down the dirty end of Valencia in SOMA, walked past it before evening noticing it was there. Good size with friendly heavily tattooed staff and clientelle, very SF punk crowd.. Draft beer list was very impressive and well priced by Sf standards.

Frankly, this place is way more my jam than Toronado. Russian River representation was Consecration vs. PtE at Toronado= point number 1 for Zeitgeist. Outdoor patio, way more friendly bar staff, and in my mind better selection (though I’m sure Toronado takes it for events and such). Still a really cool hangout, much better for the dive bar feel.

Visited during SF beer week. Dive bar feel, stickers on the wall with louder music playing. Quite a few taps, but not a lot of standouts. But to be fair it was beer week and there was a Speakeasy event happening and they may have had other tap takeovers happening throughout the week. Some bottles, but nothing special at all. Full bar, but run of the mill selection. Large outdoor seating area, that was kind of cool and the kitchen, or at least the grill portion of it, appeared to be outside as well. Service was fine, prices are good...worth a stop in.

Proper dive bar with punk playing. Very similar to tornado but much better and cleaner and friendlier. Norton mention the selection is unbelievable and much more diverse. They have anything you would feel like having on tap. Don’t was your time with tornado go here instead if dives and punk is your thing.

I’ve been coming here for a long time. They recently expanded the taps..I think 20+ beers on tap. Food is decent for a bar but kitchen closes early. Tons of seating but get there early. Prices are great for SF + a full liquor bar. The deathmetal is VERY loud so you’ve been warned.

Hit this spot on a dive bar crawl I did one night post-conference. What you see is what you get. A large indoor area with a long bar down one side of the room. A great tap list with great prices. Not much to complain about.
