Ok, you donít go here if you want perky waitresses that will faun all over you. This is a bar and has great beer at a good price. I was here in November 2011. I had a wonderful afternoon. The doorman was surly, as were the bartenders, but they were also pleasant. They have bike parking in the beer garden. Another great aspect of this place is the beer garden and inside/outside food counter. Standard bar food, cheap. The pool table is level and in good shape. Metal on the speakers at 3pm on a Friday, and a electric fireplace in the middle of the room near the door and the bar. It is worth a visit.

A super cool dive/beer bar that is perfect for a weekend afternoon drunk. Huge outdoor area, good music, and a good beer selection. A must on a sunny day.

Perhaps my new favorite place in the city. Canít believe Iíve never come here before, kind of ashamed, actually. The bar itself is dark and not terribly large. Cash only, really divey. A huge list of taps covering all sorts of styles. Your obligatory Pliny and Moonlight handles and plenty of other good things from the Bay Area and California in general. Service was good, though the bar was a bit on the dead side. Step outside to the patio/beer garden and youíve got yourself a winner. Huge space with lots of picnic tables and trees, and youíre sort of under the overpass for 101.

Love the moody alternative attitude of this place. Good beer selection, massive outdoor area complete with BBQ. This place is a San Fran must.

My favorite beer bar in the city. Always a few really good micros and local seasonals on tap, but pitchers are cheap and the company is good. Sierra Nevada and a couple of the other local micros test out new taps here, making the selection even more interesting. Last time I was here there was a Sierra Nevada impy stout, two months prior to the Anniversary bottle release of the same beer. Bartenders are wicked skillful pulling multiple taps at a time and mixing up complex drinks in between. The courtyard with its communal tables is usually packed with boisterous, gregarious revelers. An unforgettable SF mission experience almost every visit.

Absolutely loved this place. My type of bar. Great jukebox, great draft selection. Bear Republic, Russian River etc. Huge outdoor seating that was jamed. Little old lady selling Tamales. Loaded with walks of every kind. Suits, preps, punks, bikers everything. A true taste of what san Francisco is. Once of the best bars Iíve been to.

Iíve been coming here for a long time. They recently expanded the taps..I think 20+ beers on tap. Food is decent for a bar but kitchen closes early. Tons of seating but get there early. Prices are great for SF + a full liquor bar. The deathmetal is VERY loud so youíve been warned.

Proper dive bar with punk playing. Very similar to tornado but much better and cleaner and friendlier. Norton mention the selection is unbelievable and much more diverse. They have anything you would feel like having on tap. Donít was your time with tornado go here instead if dives and punk is your thing.

Pretty awesome dive bar in SF that is very similar to my Chapel Hill favorite: Heís Not Here. A big dive bar with large amounts of outdoor pic-nic table seating. Taplist was fairly large and was in chalk (good thing) signifying quick keg rotation. RR Supplication pours were $8. Local, dank IPAs were $5-6. Service was incredible considering how wildly packed the place was- I loitered around in an area where a typical hoity toity bar would never give me service and magically we got everyoneís order in. Correct glassware, fresh kegs, local heavy selection. Now I know why this is the favorite bar amongst my UNC friends in SF. If you get tired of the snotty bartenders at Toronado, well here you go. Similarly impressive taplist.

Frankly, this place is way more my jam than Toronado. Russian River representation was Consecration vs. PtE at Toronado= point number 1 for Zeitgeist. Outdoor patio, way more friendly bar staff, and in my mind better selection (though Iím sure Toronado takes it for events and such). Still a really cool hangout, much better for the dive bar feel.
