Perhaps my new favorite place in the city. Canít believe Iíve never come here before, kind of ashamed, actually. The bar itself is dark and not terribly large. Cash only, really divey. A huge list of taps covering all sorts of styles. Your obligatory Pliny and Moonlight handles and plenty of other good things from the Bay Area and California in general. Service was good, though the bar was a bit on the dead side. Step outside to the patio/beer garden and youíve got yourself a winner. Huge space with lots of picnic tables and trees, and youíre sort of under the overpass for 101.
Awesome place, that pretty much resembles a dive bar inside, and includes an expansive outdoor seating area. Taplist is quite extensive, featuring a few nice rarities and generally high quality taps. Service was very friendly and generous with free samples. Cash only unfortunately, but prices are reasonable. Recommended place.

This is very interesting place. Very personal and exciting. Good amount of interesting beers and beer garden is great. Some people in the next table were smoking something else than tobacco. Couple of other customers thought that I was from biker gang.
Another dive bar with a better than average tap list. Great beer garden out the back. Place looks like shit on the inside. Beer selection was good, but not great - even as a European coming over, there was nowt to jump up and down about. Solid enough list though. Not much craic from the staff other than the doorman. Mixed crowd - bikers, suits, punks, goths, college lads, etc. Nice to see a varied bunch all drinking together. Had a nice couple of IPAs outside in the sun, but Iíll not be rushing back - thereís better to be had in this city.
I was told about this place 5 years ago by some friends who used to travel to SF regularly. Iíve been meaning to check it out ever since but never got around to it. Glad I finally did.
Its similar to Toronado in that itís cash only, has a good tap selection, has decent music, and grumpy servers. The differences are that itís much more open, has a nice patio area, and does pitchers. When I was there they had half a dozen Ale Industries beers on tap. Got glasses of the Pink Drank (raspberry sour) and the Agent Ned Flanders (flemish bruin) and got a taste of the Evolution generation 5. Most of the people coming to the bar were getting pitchers of El Toro Poppy Jasper which was neat to see, and a few of them got pitchers of Stella. They also serve beer in quarts if you want more than a pint.
The scene at this place is interesting - an odd mix of metal and hipster that I havenít encountered before, but somehow works. Expect lots of young, tattooed people with a few middle-aged professionals mixed in. The beer list was solid, but the real highlight was the awesome beer garden out back. Great place to hang out.
Stopped in here for a couple of beers on a Sunday afternoon. Very loud metal indoors, and huge crowd outside in the beer garden. Very young crowd with lots of extracurricular activity happening. Beer selection was good and the bartenders were nice. Other than that, this is not my type of place.
