Visited November 2011.
This place looks like it belongs in a much crappier neighborhood. The people hidden in the cage/booth thing where all the liquor is, the abundance of tall cans up front, I was prepared to be let down... but I wasnt. I spent probably an hour walking around checking out the selection. Cool place over all. I picked up a couple of imports that CA hadnt gotten by that point plus a bunch of locals that I had never heard of before. I also picked up copious amounts of Surly Wet and some regional malt liquors.
It was pretty late when I got there so I really didnt interact much with the service. Prices were reasonable. Will return when Iím in town for RBSG in a month.

Located near downtown Minneapolis close to Iím guessing Univ. of Minnesota. They have a small lot next to the store so, if you have a choice, bring your smallest car. The vibe screams "college liquor store" which is confirmed by there separate fridge for 40s. They have a huge selection of local and domestic craft sections with rarities and a large pick 6 section. Plus a lot of it is refridgertated. They also offer a 10% discount for a mixed 6. The service was also cordial which you donít expect in a college liquor store.

Great selection most of what you would want in singles. Great availability of others I have not seen at other places in the Twin Cities. No help really, though I really wasnít looking for any. Decent layout, a bit stinky and dusty. Right there with Blue Max in terms of selection. Blue max wins on Belgian and Eastern European, I prefer Zipps for domestics, particularly in selection in singles. Bonus points for being right by where my Grandmother lived. Brought back memories driving past the earth apartments again. UPDATED - In further visits and pick ups by family, Tyler has been incredibly helpful.

Almost forgot to rate my first stop in the cities! Good selection of local and US micros, decent selection of Belgian, German, etc. Nothing too extravagant, but I did manage to pick up a Weyerbacher Double Simcoe and a few other nice beers. They do have some vintage imports, priced at a healthy premium.

Another decent liquor store in Minneapolis that has that every liquor store feel. Plenty of bottles available as singles, but not everything like I found at Heritage. Prices were in-line with the area. Iím not sure on service as no one came up to me while I was here. Picked up a six pack and was on my way to the next stop.

I have stopped in a few times on my visits to Minneapolis. A large liquor store with a typical liquor store feel. The staff there is great and always helpful. The selection rivals just about anywhere especially if you are looking for some local beers. A must stop while you are in the Twin Cities

I am surprised to see I havenít rated this yet. I was here two years ago and was impressed but no longer. Gone are the singles from six packs and what remains is a very poor selection. They are a small step above an average liquor store, but donít go out of your way to go here for a large selection or rare beers. I didnít see any employees until I got to the register. However, I do recommend the Thai restaurant across the street. -Visited again Nov. 2006. The selection is no longer any better than the average liquor store and this place should be removed from the database.
-Update Sept. 2007. Zipps is a good store for beer again. Not a huge selection, but a few bargains and a few beers I have seen no where else. Still no staff presence, so I canít improve the service score, but at least there is some selection now, and quite a few singles. update March 2008: Service has improved considerably, at least from management and ownership. now one of the top three or four shops in the Twin Cities.

Definitely a top 5 Twin Cities liquor store in terms of beer selection. They also have a pretty decent keg selection, although my one experience buying a keg there resulted in their having to call me several days after I ordered to tell me they were out of it. Fortunately they had Oídell IPAD as alternative which they matched the price of the stone ipa keg that was unavailable, despite the Oídell being a larger size. Youíll find some hard-to-find beers here, and aspect perhaps only matched or surpassed by Blue Max in the area.

I stopped into Zippís while in town for the weekend. They had a very good selection of individual bottles (bombers and mixer sixers).
