Very traditional almost gothic wooden panelled Altbier Halle. Several rooms and dim lighting make it a bit like a rabbit warren and it is quite atmospheric. Good location in Altstadt. 2 beers available. Satisfactory service. Nicest place so far in Dusseldorf.

Visited 02/2014, GC Tour de Rheinländle. Best Alt in town (apart from Schumacher’s spectacular seasonal 1838), served in multi-parlour brewpub, full of character and an indicator that a local beerstyle matters to a city’s inhabitants. On the verge of filling up to capacity before a game anytime, easy to strike up a conversation with OAP locals or far-traveled tourists. Stickum neighbours next door always worth visiting during daytime to catch a few Sticke/Doppelsticke.

The room I was in was pretty cool. Right next to the Brauhaus. You could smell the malt. Wooden everywhere with paintings on the wall. Waiter served me right away. Can’t complain. Empty wooden kegs were being rolled past me. Very cool atmosphere. €1,90 for ,25 L

My favorite of the beer halls I visited in Dusseldorf. A large beer hall with distinct rooms that kept the noise down. Service was good and the alt was the only beer available on tap. The goulash I had was quite delicious and the prices were inline with the rest of beer halls around town.

This for me was the penultimate Dusseldorf altbier experience. I actually loved all the altbier places we visited (sorry but so much friendlier than Köln!) but Uerige was tops in all departments.
Went once for the regular altbier, and it was for sure the most woody and characterful in the city. Service was stellar.
Went the next day for Sticke day with Fred Waltman and the Sticke Warriors. The sticke was tasty. I would say Uerige is a must.This is up there with the world's classic beer cultures.

Visited September 2012 with chinoskillzian and womencantsail. Actually we visited twice but the first night they were just closing and wouldn’t serve us. So we got an eye opener on the way out of town. It was neat to see them tapping the wooden keg of alt. I think these guys are the only ones that make the doppelsticke year round, or at least make enough of it to be available year round. The server gave me attitude for asking to try something other than the alt. He was confused by my question and when I pointed out that there is a weizen on the menu he said that it was a weizen, not an alt. 99% sure he was just being an ass but I told him I wanted to try all their BEERS, and hefeweizen is a beer too. Maybe he was hung over from the night before, who knows. Anyway, the beers were all decent and I enjoyed the old timey wooden furnishings and decorations as well as watching all the beer trucks rolling through the cobblestone streets refilling the beer supply at the bars. I’d like to go back to Dusselfdorf some day during a doppelsticke day and when that happens I’ll make sure to stop back here.

May 2013. The second stop in Duesseldorf, and Uerige is one of the most atmospheric places where I have ever consumed a beer. Approaching on the street to a high top outdoor table, you can smell the malt and brewing aromas in the air. The area is shaded by trees and there are many locals early on friday afternoon. The waiter was less friendly than in many other places, but far from rude. A really great experience, and it is great they have a few beer options.

DIE Altbier-Institution in Düsseldorf! Am schönsten im Frühling und Sommer draußen vor der Tür 10 Uerige aufwärts genießen und dem Treiben der Schicki-Mickis zusehen. Hier ist jeder gleich, ob arm ob reich. Wer nicht im Uerige war auf Ddorf Tour, der war eigentlich nicht dort!

Had unfortunately some issues with this brewpub because I wanted to buy some special bottles and got send from one place to another ( from the normal brewpub to the underground area of Carsch House, from the Carsch House back to the brewpub and from the brewpub to their special room, the Stickum ) and when we have been finally at the Stickum ( opening times Fri / Sat: 2 pm) they told us, that they don’t sell bottles at all for taking away. Well, little bit stupid and confusing altogether, but at least they all were friendly. We didn’t want to take a drink at the normal brewpub because we didn’t feel welcomed at all (one waiter told us at the door that there’s no food except some sandwiches available at 11.30 am (!) and wouldn’t even want us to be inside at all). After some nos and yes’ we decided to go to the Stickum, which is just beneath the old brewpub rooms and we were really happy and feeling good there. The two waiters were really friendly and nice, and had a nice knowledge and told us -unasked- about the history of Doppelsticke and about the breweries rooms. The beers (Doppelsticke / Sticke) were just awesome and we are gonna try their own beer whiskey next time. Would go to the Stickum anytime again - but not to the normal brewpub rooms.
