In the majority of an old dock building right opposite the entrance and new development area of the Ocean Village Marina (which has a few attractive bars to drink at also), this is a one rooms affair that is atmospheric and bright and breezy given it extends the whole width of the building. The high ceilings and large French windows mean there’s plenty of natural light on the densely packed tables in what is a traditional look for this pub in the chain. It’s certainly worth a look if you are in the area even if it is just to walk through given the historic relevance of the place. The ales are a disappointment with two rows repeated in its selection and bland offerings at that.

A Wetherspoon’s pub in quite a pretty building. Cosy and better than the other JDW pubs in Southampton in terms of ambiance, but sadly the beer range is better in the other pubs.

Its a ’Spoons. Perhaps better than the other branches in the city - certainly the building is grander, and the pub doesn’t sprawl as much! As with many Weatherspoons, it was packed. Beer selection varies in quantity and quality, I assume. Very full (I went Friday), with a good mix of clientelle. As ever with Spoons, you get the cheap and cheerful, the occiasional great beer, one server less than is probably needed, and a busy bustling bar.
