72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Theydon_Bois (372) The ’Sham, England | February 3, 2013 Been here just the once in March ’11 on a pub crawl having come from Blind Tiger then the Half Pint which is a stones throw away.
We went upstairs and were the only people there (3/4pm on a midweek day).
Atmosphere flat - so defaults to 3 and service was good as we had our own personal bar tender!
Selection was decent enough - no rareties but solid.
Not a destination venue but works well enough on a crawl. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 14/20 bmerz (118) Brooklyn, New York | October 20, 2012 This is a great central place to bring a bunch of friends, craft beer lovers or not. It’s pretty much a normal upscale post college bar. It’s big. The prices are reasonable for the area. The selection is basic but broad and with some really good stuff. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 mansquito (56) Nueva York, New York | October 10, 2012 Rotating taps are here, but all the beers are pretty run of the mill. The bottle list has some other, weirder stuff, but really not that much of it. There are no descriptions on most of the beer. Happy hour only applies to the most generic offerings on the menu (except for Bronx Pale Ale I suppose). The atmosphere is nice and the staff were pleasant. The prices were not terrible either, especially for the area. Middle of the road. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Meilby (25) Kristiansand, Norway | July 11, 2011 Large open place on 2 floors. Cozy bar downstairs with a good beer selection. 20 rotating taps and friendly service. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 BiddleBrau (76) Fort Washington, Pennsylvania | March 7, 2010 Former home to a cooperage so it’s got an industrial type feel. 2 floors - upper floor was a bit louder, downstairs smaller and a bit more casual. Open and roomy. Draft list is pretty decent bottle list pretty extensive. Menu wasn’t extensive but the food was pretty good for more than basic eats. I expect this place could get very loud very fast but could be really comfy on a quiet day. | 68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 JoeMcPhee (465) Toronto, ON, Ontario | January 16, 2010 Large place with two separate areas. A very large upstairs bar area and a cozier sort of event space downstairs. Well-chosen beer list, both tap and bottle. Friendly service. When I was in I found a sweet, sweet deal of a bottle of GI Sofie for 8 bucks. It was chill enough when I was in although I suspect it will be home to scenesters once it gets going. A good beer selection, but not really the kind of place I like to hang out in. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 altonbrownd (197) Brussels, Belgium | December 17, 2009 New bar by the owner of The Half Pint and Stout. 20 regular taps and 20 rotating. Nice bottle selection including Peche Mortel, Goose Island Bourbon County. Place was very, very loud and has live DJ’s. Food apparently quite good. Sure it will be popular among the NYC crowd. Staff semi-knowledgeable about their wares. |
