86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 LilBeerDoctor (208) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | April 14, 2013 This is an excellent brewery in Birmingham. It was quite packed on a Sunday afternoon. Very relaxed ambiance. There is a small indoor area with a bar and a few tables and there is also an outdoor bar and patio (which started to fill up quickly). There were quite a few taps on, and some interesting beers. I tried the peach saison, tripel, saison, IPA, and porter (and enjoyed all!). They also have a sampler. There is no food served, but you can order food from a truck right outside (which was very good!) and Saw’s BBQ is right next door. I quite enjoyed this place and would love to return if I come back to Birmingham. | 68 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Brewticular (19) , | August 12, 2012 Good place to hang out on a slow night in Birmingham. As one of the few breweries in Birmingham, it is good to see it doing well and making quality beer. There is a bright future here. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 12/20 Mckool1 (1) Maylene, Alabama | July 31, 2012 All of their brews are good. I live near Birmingham and really enjoy going to the taproom for a Tripel. Wish they still made Mr. Todd’s Brown. | 68 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 CoachP (16) Alabama | July 12, 2012| Updated August 12, 2012 moved to another post | 76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 TheBrewSherpa (47) Belvidere, New Jersey | June 30, 2012| Updated August 12, 2012 Cool little brewery, I love the taproom. Beers are ok, everything looks great, could use a few dart boards, IMO, but otherwise a great place to imbibe that is off the beaten path. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 b79turner (31) Alabama | June 17, 2012| Updated August 12, 2012 Very cool place to hangout. Huge outdoor seating area, bar outside, upstairs, and downstairs. Highly recommended! | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 IRBent (2) Alabama | May 8, 2012| Updated August 12, 2012 Walked in on a Saturday night while mutiple events were taking place. The bar, upstairs and the outdoor patio was crowded. Service was kickin hard and they had all of their regular beers on tap. We got hit by a cover charge due to all of the happenings, but I felt it was worth it to be able to check out this new brewery and its assorted offerings. I ordered a flight and took my time sipping each variety. I enjoyed each beer, didn’t dislike any of them, and really liked the flavor of their Kolsch, Saison, Tripel and Vanilla porter. Nice first visit and willing to be a repeat offender.
Advice for the owners/staff:
I noticed the waitress had to think hard and repeatedly look up at the chalk board that listed each of your beers while setting up the flight. Maybe you could arrange the list on the chalk board to match the taps. It might help too if the taps were arranged so that the most requested beer was the most convenient tap for staff to use. That’s assuming they aren’t already arranged in any preferred order. | 96 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 StuartCarter (10) Alabama | May 2, 2012| Updated August 12, 2012 A quick note on the food - as a brewery taproom, they do not have their own food on hand, but they are 2 doors away from a BBQ place that delivers. They also have the crawfish boil every Saturday which is a heck of a lot of fun, albeit slammed with customers. A fantastic, friendly, relaxed taproom in an historic neighbourhood of Birmingham. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 Aurelius (109) Tallahassee, Florida | April 9, 2012| Updated August 12, 2012 Ample parking. I strolled up to the pleasant aroma of simmering mash and rolling steam. Very casual, folks getting off work and loosening their ties. Good beer, six on tap. Good service. Flight is 6.50. Think this is a must-stop in Birmingham. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 beernovice39 (196) Montana | April 1, 2012 Located downtown is this cozy spot where you can sample 6 of their brews or order pints a plenty. Went twice during my stay in town. First time it was packed with a younger crowd, good music and the service was great. Sadly the second visit the place was dead and it was difficult to get a beer. Overall I look forward to going back. |
