Beer very good I always enjoy the summer ale | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Brugmansia (256) Jylland, Denmark | November 27, 2012 Visited in januar 2012 on our pre-winter-ale-pubcrawl..
Older, funny shaped pub near the harbour, entering it, it gives you a feeling that lots and lots of people have been coming here for a pint or 2. Lots of Wapping beers on tap, well conditioned and served by the friendly staff. We were sitting in the back close to the fireplace enjoying our beers and lunch.. Seems very much as a place where locals come, but strangers are very welcome as well :-) | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 sic1314 (229) Leiden, Netherlands | September 1, 2012 Kind of scruffy and pretty run down, but the atmosphere was good and the beer well above par. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 craggyisland (8) Barcelona, Spain | June 18, 2012 Nice pub, and the Wapping beers are generally excellent. Generally not too busy, since it’s a little way away from the city centre. As a previous commenter has noted, draught selection is surprisingly poor, but still, the place is definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 dengodenabo (4) Trondheim, Norway | April 20, 2012 Fantastic brewpub close to the Albert Docks!!
We got a tour in the brewery in the basement, and tasted a great selectin of wapping beers!! A handpicked selection of real ales on tap, good slection of bottles and good food!! What more can you hope fore?? We always drop by The Baltic for some beers whn we are in Liverpool, it´s a must!! | 40 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 9/20 lambic (60) Newton Poppleford, England | February 13, 2012 Nice selection of Wapping beers, all kept well. The pub really need some tlc though. | 46 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 9/20 paulsenior1 (2) , England | January 31, 2012 Wasn’t over impressed this place. For a pub offering a good cask selection its draught selection is abysmal. Fosters/Carling should not be in site of this style of pub | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 rauchbierlover (89) Roma, Italy | December 15, 2011 Disappointed. This is how I felt when visiting this Liverpool institution. This is the only one brewpub in town (I guess) and since I booked my flight I cannot wait to taste their pluri-awarded stout. Wel, it was not available. Another beer I really wanted to taste was their smoked porter. Not available. Not even in bottle. I don’t know if mid-December is not the right season for stouts and porters, but if they had their summer ale on tap avalilable (!!!),disapppointment gets bigger. So I had their Winter Ale and say goodbye. After all it’s a nice place, just in front of teh Docks, but not worthing a detour from the city center. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Cunningham (246) Halden, Norway | October 20, 2011 nice and friendly brew pub central in Liverpool | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 chriso (306) London, England | August 21, 2011 A Victorian “flat-iron” shaped brewpub opposite Albert dock, a last survivor of, no doubt, a whole slew of pubs that once catered for the nautical folk working nearby. When I lived in Liverpool in the 70s, the shipping had gone, the area was tending towards dereliction and the pubs were disappearing. The Baltic Fleet endured as a defiant, and rather isolated, survivor. Now the area is being redeveloped and tarted up. Thankfully the same cannot be said of the Baltic Fleet. It’s certainly not one of Liverpool’s more opulent Victorian boozers but manages to combine the scruffy, the functional and the cosy rather splendidly. And the beers produced by the on-site Wapping brewery are pretty decent too. |
