70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20
Havenít been here in awhile, doing our Sunday shopping at nearby Target decided to check it out. Iíll agree with the typical restaurant layout, my wife actually asked me if this was a chain (it isnít). Staff were friendly, beer was decent and the food was good. The malted barley candles were cool. Will this place replace my regular trips to Brewers Alley? Nope. But something to hit up here and then if in the area.

As others have mentioned, this place isnít as good as Brewerís Alley, both in terms of food and beer. The beer prices are reasonable and the service is good, but the beer really isnít and thatís what we are all there for anyway. Skip this joint unless you are looking for a tick.

Stopped by while in town for business. Typical restaurant layout. Food was pretty good; got the crab cake on top of hamburger meal. Service was good. Beers were a bit disappointing. There were a few that were decent though. There is a better brewery restaurant in downtown Frederick called Brewers Alley (in my opinion).

Has the generic brewpub chain look and feel. Restuarant area had lots of families though, has a decent atmosphere. I enjoy Barley & Hops Beers and like their selection. Their appetizers are great, with one of the best cream of crab soups I have had. However their entrees are overpriced and not worth the money. I got six scallops that cost $24 and were overcooked and gritty. Side dish of "fresh" green beans were overcooked and bland. My gf got a steak which was also overcooked.
I have always had friendly servers and bartenders there though. I would recommend going in for a few beers and appetizers, and skip the full meal.

Large place, interior looks like a generic chain restaurant, but you can see into the brewery (brewer was present). Beers were pretty average, food was above average. Good service. Decent enough stop.

A pretty generic brewery. Seemed like an older crowd, family place. Nice flight with a decent offering. A pretty tame place and a safe spot to take your grandparents.

The food is pretty good, but I go there for the local brews.

Located not too far from Flying Dog. Big open restaurant with a chain feel. Big bar. I didnít eat. Most of the patrons seemed to be regulars and they bartender seemed to know most by name. The beers ranged from poor to average. Sampler of 7 beers (3 ounce pours) was $2.50, so at least the beer is cheap. Located in shopping center, so parking is pretty easy. Not a place to stop if youíre short on time, but might be worth hitting up if youíre visiting Flying Dog.

This place has a chain restaurant feel that starts on the outside and carries over inside. I took my seat in the bar and waited roughly ten minutes before I got up and found someone who would help me. Apparently the three employees 6 feet away were too interested in who was fucking who at whoís house that night. The beer is well priced and the offerings are only average. If you are thirsty and in Frederick, drive into downtown and visit Brewers Alley instead.
