Easy parking, flights available, cool authentic feel. Love it. 9 house taps this day. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Ibrew2or3 (300) Tempe, Arizona | September 11, 2012 Small square (currently painted dark green) building on the corner right off West Bay Blvd. I arrived at 3pm just after they opened with easy vehicle parking options. You exit your vehicle and you’re immediately confronted by robust levels of drool inducing BBQ going on at the very next business west. Wow! Now I’m hungry and thirsty. Inside the small space is dominated by a square bar where the remaining space is taken up by just a few seating options. To the right is a temperature controlled clear window room housing the variously sized fermenters, there seems to be six or eight of them peculating away. The staff is friendly and helpful. During my visit they had 3 house brews available as well as another dozen or so local brews (great to see local support like this). I’m sure to come back the next time I’m in town. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Rustyham (98) St. Petersburg, Florida | August 12, 2012 A great little bar with a great patio. The beers that they are brewing in there are pretty good too, but the selections is still in it’s early stages. I tried two beers, the grapefruit pale and the Rye (amazing). The back patio is a great quiet place, wonderful to hand out and have a conversation or bring a book and enjoy a beer. Inside, there is not a lot of sitting space and it gets pretty loud and tight. | 100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 Keh2095 (1) Westlake, Ohio | July 29, 2012 I’ve been to Barley Mow a few times, Colleen & Jay did an outstanding job converting the old O’Houstons to a fun, warm and inviting nano brewery. Brent & Jenna are fantastic bartenders and very efficient. The place rocks. Went to the Release Party, crazy busy, the beer was awesome, loved the blond, the amber and the unkindness, each beer I tasted was flavorful. The S’mores Stout was fun, just had a taste. I highly recommend this place, it will be around for a long time with the great beer, wonderful atmosphere, friendly owners and terrific wait staff | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 HOPSHUNTER (33) Tampa, Florida | July 28, 2012 Newest addition to the Bay Area brewing scene. Located in Largo right where O’ Houstons used to be. The owners Colleen and Jay have done a great job turning the place around. Started off as a bar but now they have evolved to Largo’s newest micro brewery. The place is great, feels more like a traditional pub to me then any other place I’ve been to in Tampa. They have a large outside patio which can hold quite a few people. I had most of their initial beer offerings which ranged from mediocre to pretty good, nothing that blew my mind although I did quite enjoy the porter and the Undkindness Black IPA. The service was fair however to be fair, the night I went was the first release of their own beers and they were extremely busy and I’m not sure they had quite enough staff to cover it. I’m sure it’s much different when they’re a bit slower. Overall a great addition to the area and I’m sure the beer will get even better. |
