Stopped in on a Sunday for lunch. Plenty of parking, but I was one of the only people there. If you want to go, Sunday afternoon is pretty good time. I ordered a couple flights of the house beer, a couple cask pours and a nitro included. A 4 beer flight for less than $5 is pretty hard to beat. The beer was pretty good, too. I ordered the Reuben Burger and was pretty impressed. Creative, not mind blowing food, but good for pairing with beer. The service was very good. I don’t know if the bartender was the most knowledgeable about beer, but I didn’t really giver her much of a chance to prove anything to me. She was very attentive and kept my glasses full. I would definitely like to make it back here at some point.

Plenty of fine brews both on tap and by the bottle. Having lived in the south, I’m a harsh critic of Barbecue, so best not discuss that. :)

I do have to admit, the neighbor hood this is located is a bit rough looking. Made my self and my group a bit nervous. As soon as we opened the door, we smelled the BBQ and a few of us in unison said, "smells good." The smokehouse has a large bar as soon as you walk in to the left and a very large dinning area straight back. The walls have beer tins hanging on them. Beer selection was ok. Mostly beer they brew themseleves. A few guest taps with good stuff GLBC, Bell’s, etc. I chose the centenial IPA, which was satisfactory. The food was good. Not one person of the group had a complaint about the food. I had the pulled pork sandwich. Excellent. Service was good, granted it was a Wendsday Night, but food was served promptly. The beers were in appropriate glasswear. Value was ok, I though the food tended to be on the higher side of the scale, but beer was reasonable.

Stopped by around 3PM Tuesday and the place was deserted which is to be expected. I didn’t eat as I wasn’t hungry but the menu looked like it had some decent stuff and the prices weren’t bad. They allowed me to sample all the house beers, and they were overall of good quality. Lots of guest taps and bottles, and a couple of beer engines plus a firkin on Fridays. One thing I liked is I couldn’t find a hint of macro beer anywhere, though I didn’t have any reason to ask. The bartender was friendly and helpful. I stopped by here because it looked easy to get to off the interstate and I’m glad I did.

I usually stop at the barleys by the north market when I’m in town but some friends told me about this one. Fun place. great selection of brews and some tasty barbeque!

Had lunch on a Wednesday, just after noon. Pretty quiet, a couple of tables of folks having lunch. The layout of the place is new, but worn and comfortable at the same time. There was some outdoor seating, decent amount of bar stools and tables, and a bigger restaurant area. The brew works are visible through picture windows in the back. They had 8 of their own beers, as well as some well chosen guest taps. Two of the house beers were on Beer Engine, which is cool. I had the 4 beer sampler of Barleys Pale Ale, MacLennys Scottish, Barleys Centennial (Beer Engine) and the Saint Joans Farmhouse Ale (Beer Engine). All the beers were clean and fresh. I ordered the three mini barbecue sandwich on a roll thingy. The barbeque was perfectly fine, nothing super memorable, but tasty. Pickles were quite good. My server was nice, and knowledgable. Free wifi and a nice place to work for a bit fit the bill really well.

This place is just down the street from my dad’s new house so we gave it a shot. The atmosphere is pretty boring just a big wooden room, like some crappy steakhouse. We sat at the bar in front of a tv, they a few nice ones throughout the place. The quality is decent. They had 7 in house brews and 8 guest taps of decent quallity. However, there beer menu was totally out of date, they only had 2 of 8 beers on tap listed. The service was really bad. The bartender new nothing about beer. I’d ask for suggestions and get just ignorant responses. I wanted to taste all their drafts so on a plus side they offer shot tastings for .75 each, quite a deal to me. The selection of their own taps is varied, and the guests are decent names but dominated by a bunch of ipas. The food was ok, we had a snack of chicken tenders pretty tasty. However, the menu is just generic stuff you’d see anywhere. Overall, a decent place. I wouldn’t frequent this place because of a boring atmosphere and quite frankly none of there in house beers are top notch. Ok for C-bus I suppose.

This is the first location of Barleys that I visited. The smokehouse is more of a restaurant than the downtown location. Seating is abundant, there are pool tables as well as some outdoor patio seating. The bar is smallish, about the same size as the one downtown. It might seat about 15 people. They will have a few of the same beers here as they do downtown but a few different. In other words, each location will feature different Barleys beers. I feel that their guest tap and bottle list is much stronger at this location. I have personally tasted GI Night Stalker on tap here, seen HopSlam, Bear Republic, Southampton, Boulder Obovoid Stout and a few other beers that arent around town very often. It might just be me, but I feel like they feature more stouts here than they do downtown. It would make sense if this were true as these styles pair nicely with the BBQ style menu. The food is pretty awesome. Great BBQ. One of the cities go to places for tangy, spicy and smokey BBQ. When it comes to Columbus beer culture, this and its sister brewpub can not be overlooked.

Great food & their seasonal christmas brew is to die for! Get a growler and share with the family.

Finally visited in February 2010 for lunch on a weekday. The place smelled awesome. The food was outstanding. And the service rocked. My beef with Barley’s is their beers -- we had 4 different ones, and 3 of them were WAY off style. A "pale ale" that was dark brown? A "scottish" that was light amber and hoppy? (I almost wonder if their tap lines are switched?). The beers are drinkable, but you don’t know what you’re getting when you order! But I’d go back for the food alone. (Brewery #503)
