48 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 2/10 OVERALL 8/20 pras (38) Maryland | November 22, 2012 Good selection for Montgomery County, and actually reasonable prices for Montgomery County. If you are looking for beer though, drive for 5 minutes past here and check out Rodman’s. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 BrotherJason (5) Washington DC | April 5, 2012| Updated May 11, 2012 Great selection of hard-to-find beers, especially consider Montgomery County’s limiting rules. They didn’t have quite everything I was looking for, but pretty close! The staff was knowledgeable about what was missing and committed to trying to acquire missing inventory by request, even if that means lobbying to the powers that control availability. The best Belgian ale selection I’ve found in the area! Hard to compete with the more open import rules of DC, just a couple miles away, but about as good as it gets for Montgomery County. | 52 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 8/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | February 23, 2012| Updated May 11, 2012 Small place. First red flag was that there were no visible prices. On closer inspection, some of the bottles did have a small price tag somewhere, none were visible from the front of the bottle. Prices were, as GT mentioned, high. For everything. Selection was small. Not worth a stop. | 48 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 2/10 OVERALL 6/20 GT2 (341) Riverslime, California | December 3, 2011| Updated May 11, 2012 Brand new store that just opened in Bethesda a little south on Wisconsin from the Bethesda metro stop, this place is apparently affiliated with a restaurant next door called Food Wine & Co. which I did not go to. The store is small, similar to a lot of bottle shops in the area with a decent but uninspiring selection with things that are easily available at top bottle shops in DC and at places like Perfect Pour, Norms, etc. But I do have to mention one thing: the prices. They are completely outrageous. They had 6 packs of Corona for $9 and four packs of Chimay Blanche for over $20. I think the price was even more ludicrous like $38.99 for a four pack of Chimay. I almost laughed out loud. Completely over the top pricing that only someone born yesterday would pay for. They do have mix your own six pack with 21st Amendment singles and the like, but each single is at least $5 so it’s going to be a near $30 six pack an then you get a 10% off discount. Whoopie. So...yeah. I see no reason to go here. Props for using ratebeer tags on the beers, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to pay triple the price in some cases for normal, easy to get, small format bottles. |
