88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 Storm_Warning (2) , England | January 20, 2013 Benson Blakes has become a regular of mine for the last year or so after properly appreciating the world of beer. There is always something for everyone on the beer list, whether it be a lager for the majority or some form of speciality Belgian, American, German or traditional English beer. There is also at least two cask offerings and an extensive selection of cocktails. Very nice food, best described as some well known classics with a twist. Pleasant friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 BeerLuvver (2) Bury St. Edmunds, England | January 9, 2013 A great bar for individuals and families alike. A great range of continental and American beers from draught and bottle. Superb burgers and an extensive and imaginative menu which caters for all tastes. Regularly visit with young family and to sample the ever-changing beer range. Staff are friendly and nothing is ever too much for them. Great atmosphere and environment but could do with a little ’face-lift’. Occasional live music, mostly acoustic. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 18/20 firedog23 (7) , England | September 28, 2012 When you get tired of the normal offerings or want something more than cask ale then this is the place. I can usually get my American fix and especially get a great Belgium selection. Beer lovers know this place does something a little bit different. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 mbc (8) Leicester, England | August 30, 2012| Updated August 31, 2012 This is a modern bar in a converted shop (at one time it was one of the smaller Wetherspoons, but has since been comprehensively de-wetherspooned). Two cask ales (from Oakham Ales (Inferno) and Titanic at time of visit), but the interesting element is the speciality keg beer which is apparently sourced from Beautiful Beers over the road. There were six on which included La Rulles Estivale, Caracole Ambree, Kasteel Rouge, Meantime Pale Ale and Black Isle Lager. Worth going in to once you’ve done the Beerhouse and the Cannon Street Brewery nearby. |
