Iíve not yet visited their new brewery, but the old one just down the road was a bit of a ramshackle affair. However, itís all about the beer and there was no shortage of Black Isle bottles available with free tasters of their organic brews possible. The staff were also friendly and knowledgeable.

This brewery has the smallest tasting glasses on this earth!!!!!! and they fill them only half. You understand here why Scottish have the reputation to be mean. We visited the old small brewery, they moved in the mean time to a new place. An old nice lady gave us a brewery tour. Cannot rate the beers as the tasting quantities were too small to reach the taste buds.

Black Isle has most recently moved in to a newer and more importantly, larger brewery near their old location. We arrived late morning and immediately got taken on short tour of the brewery from the assistant, followed by a tasting of four of their beers. The operation is a quite a bit larger than the previously. They now have a decent shop, where you guy buy all of their regular line up, including hibernator, golden eye etc , as well as more limited releases of Chilli bock, Black Islay & Export Scotch ale. Prices seemed similar to elsewhere. They also have merchandise and other products such as soap, confectionary and sheep skin rugs. A nice addition is the fridge of chilled beer, which you can consume onsite, either at the indoor tables or those outdoors. A worthy stop on your way to the Anderson and Cromarty brewery!

Brewery is tiny and very old and run down. Perhaps itís not fair to rate this because they are building a new brewery that will be open soon. Their shop/guest area is very nice with all bottled ales available. Staff is very friendly.

Isolated down rural roads in the Black Isle area northwest of Inverness. A brewery and bottleshop offering a few 500ml bottles and 4 or 5 12oz bottles selling for about 2 to 2.5 pounds per bottle and discount for boxes of 6 or 8. Friendly woman was there when we were offering tours and good conversation. Benches outside to drink on premise from their selection of refrigerated beers. No food but you can eat outside.

Special bottles may be conditioned. Generally the ales are organic, but not refermented in the bottle. Itís out in the country, and not all that easy to locate. Worth the trip. Lots of opportunity to get every ale they brew. Take your food and picnic in the lot, or nearby.
