Overview: "BBC Cheers" is what I call this place; something about the outside of the place, and the downstairs bar location makes me think back to the 80s TV mainstay... the interior, unfortunately, is where those comparisons end aesthetic-wise. Tall tables/chairs all around with a few booths; brick/wood wall sections with the bar sitting near the back rear wall. If thereís an upstairs, Iíve never been.

On my last visit, I sat at the bar, and found the bartender to know the selection under her nose pretty well. She managed to find two ladies nearby who didnít really like beer (then why are they sitting at the bar in a brewpub?) some beers they at least finished; I opted for the dark mild and was well satisfied. Selection consists of ten beers- five of their core lineup and five seasonals; the "proceed with caution" on hoppy beers here is still in effect; the "Southern Cross New Zealand Ale" was much less interesting than it sounds. I had chili my last time in (good, but not noteworthy), but the food here is usually the typical brewpub fare. Prices here are a little higher than the St. Matthews location; half pints and flights are available.

PROS: Improved service. CONS: Hoppy beer of any kind; tired selection. OVERALL: Nothing to get excited about here beer-wise, but an alright place to pass a little time or to meet some mates. Paid parking all around, but free on Sundays and in the evenings after 6 p.m. Sunergos around the corner on 5th street is a rad place for espresso.

Interior is cozy and inviting, yet has plenty of seating at the bar, in booths and at tables. Service is alert and helpful. Food is above average. Their beers are quite good - ask for a flight. Music is loud enough to enjoy but not so loud that it drowns out conversation. This is a must if you live in Louisville, or will be visiting for a few days.

If you are a fan of mediocre beers then hit this up while staying in downtown Louisville. Itís only saving grace is its proximity to the Yum! Center and a way to pass time before tipoff or while waiting for the traffic to clear.

The beer selection hits all the typical styles. None come with a glowing recommendation although the Cardinal Ale is inoffensive. Prices hover around the $5.00 mark for a pint which aligns nicely with the rest of the brewpubs in the area. The food could be described as slightly upscale but otherwise is your typical brewpub fare.

If this is your first visit to town walk a few more blocks to Against the Grain. If you still feel like getting in a few ticks then revisit while walking back to your hotel. If youíve been to town before save your liver and experience some great bourbon just down the street at Haymarket, Doc Crowís, or one of the many other places that make Louisville unique instead of beers which you will forget after walking outside.

Right across the street from the KFC Yum Center. Decent selection of their own beers typical with 3-4 seasonals available Very good food - reasonably priced. Unless youíre there on a Sunday, you will have to pay to park (and will be pricey if there is an game/event).

Visited on 2/28/14. My first stop in Louisville since I was at the Kentucky Center. Nice enough place, everything is wooden, good lighting, etc. Our bartender was friendly and able to talk intelligently about the beers. Lots of their own beers on tap. We did not try the food. We got a flight for $7.50 during happy hour, which was awesome. The waiter said we were only supposed to get all of the main stuff but he brought us a sample of every beer on tap and didnít even charge extra. Canít complain there. The beer is severely mediocre to bad, though. That would be the main complaint.

Downtown near the yum! Center. Decent and knowledgeable service. Limited selection to bbc beers but carries enough styles to keep it interesting. Food is pub fare. Decent value for a downtown location. Decent ut not a treasure trove.

Stopped in with the wife while in town. Good location and ambiance; three floors (we chilled in the tavern in the basement). Staff were solid. Didnít eat, But the menu looked good, as did the food. Decent draft lineup. Worth a stop if youíre in town (and is only a few blocks from Against the Grain).

Stopped here for lunch and brews. You go downstairs off the street and enter a nice bar area, I believe there was an upstairs area but didnít venture up there. Service was excellent and we were provided free samples of some beers. Selection was pretty good with some special beers, IIPA, Bourbon Stout, ect. Food was typical brewpub style and pretty good. Prices were fair. Not a bad place to have lunch and try some beers, I know you could buy some 750ís to go as well.
