When I visited: Late January 2013. What I had: Green Flash Palate Wrecker DIPA and Victory Prima Pils on tap, white wine and cocktail for my girl. What I liked: Ridiculous draught and bottle lists, bartender was spot on with her recommendations and happy to provide samples, managed to find seats right away despite it being super busy, cozy bar with chalkboard in plain view, good college crowd, really fun vibe on a Saturday night, love the Mikey’s Slice joint right next door. What I disliked: Certainly attracts some hipster types but we didn’t feel out of place here. Would I go back? For sure. Overall Rating: 88

Began a trip down High street to the blue jackets game here, great way to start and it set a high bar. Great draft list! US micros with local brews too. Bodega has just started their own offerings, from Seventh Son, had a couple of those, a nice Ipa with cascade hops, a nice American string ale at 7.7%, they also had a brown ale, and a stout that was a bit smokey. Really nice beers. Rest of the draft list was impressive. Staff were cool, although the waitress recommended a Dipa to a Molson drinker we are bringing along into the light. Food was very good.

Definitely not let down by the beer selection. A really great beer selection. I was going to start talking about the food which can be hit or miss, but why bother? If you are going to Bodega you are going for the beer. There is always something for everyone. Staff is knowledgable and pleasant. Go for the beer, stay for the beer. I wish this was closer to my end of town, but my favorite place does not have as many beers on tap as this but has had most of the same ones, including Three Floyds. This is a fine place to go for craft beer drinkers. Bodega is a must

Visited for dinner on a Thursday evening. I arrived about 6, and the place was absolutely jammed. Took about 30 minutes to get a seat at the bar. Fun crowd, everyone was trying different beers and generally having a good time. The tap and bottle selection here are pretty great. I had the local Four Strings Brass Knuckle, Ballast Point Sculpin and a draft Gueze Tilquin. Service was solid, despite the crowd at the bar. The only real downside to the place was the food. The pizza I had was awful. Overly thick crust that was hurt your jaw to eat dry. It tasted like the crust had been cooked twice. Toppings were OK, could have been average if properly cooked. All head back to this place, but probably just for beers next time.

Bodega is a hip place in the Short North area of Columbus. It isn’t big, with a patio in front, a smaller (but absolutely stocked) bar, and maybe 20-ish tables. The tap list is big and impressive, with a ton of locals and other great craft labels. There are even more bottles, and the sours/lambics stood out to me the most. The prices aren’t cheap for those but there are plenty of good ones to tempt you. Half-price drafts during happy hour; otherwise, a bit pricey overall. The food is pretty good, modern American stuff. Bodega is well-staffed, although our waitress forgot about us once or twice. Probably the best craft selection I saw in Columbus.

Outstanding selection and good beer prices during happy hour. Busy and full of OSU people. Bar food that is better than most.

Headed here with some buddies to hit up the Columbus beer scene. Good location in the Short North, a couple tables outside provide some nice people watching. The inside was nice but it’s a weird beer bar place, its way to trendy for me, nice just not what I want for my beer bar...The quality of the beers was really nice, good selection of midwest beers, lots of Michigan, nice to get some Troegs as well. The service was good, both servers offered good suggestions. A Columbus must for a beer bar.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime in March 2010. A fairly worthwhile, if brief, stop. Happened to be passing and saw a parking space right outside. Two interesting beers I’d not had on tap (including a Columbus Brewing beer that was not on at the brewub and was far superior to what they did have there). Had the two beers. Left. Quite quiet so difficult to get a handle on the atmosphere but easy to see that it could be a hipster joint at more popular drinking timres. A bit too much of a cafe bar feel for my liking. Would drop in again if in town (and in the neighbourhood) because they’ll probably have stuff I wouldn’t get elsewhere.

Ah, Bodega. Much loved, much revered, and much stigmatized Bodega. This is a place that all Columbus beer geeks are at least slightly familiarized with. Only the regulars know how to manage visits to the place. First timers are usually scared away by the crowds or the prices. The happy hours are one hell of a deal. 50% off all taps. The taps are why you would go here anyway. Be sure not to come on peak bar hopping hours i.e. Saturday at 10pm. The service will get your beer wrong, or they will be out of what you want and the crowds will be so packed, most of them stupid hipsters with silly moustaches. If you dont see 25 fixed gear bikes parked out front it is safe to enter. The selection is usually down right awesome. Granted there are some off nights but typically there is at least 2-3 rare, tap only beers worth trying. Double check your bill before you leave and have 2 or 3 back up choices when you order and everything will be fine.
