76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 wimpyjoe (568) Manchester, England | January 17, 2013 Situated in the architecturally fine Dalton Square in Lancaster it occupies an end of a grand terrace facing the gardens. The conversion is excellent and the front bar area is a collection of rooms made into an open plan drinking area full of fine soft furnishings that bring out the best of the classic building. A seat at the front means you can relax in a big chair and people watch through the large old windows. The bar is situated to the right within one of the opened up rooms and there’s plenty for all. For ale drinkers there is a substantial row but not all are always used, however for those that are there is usually a decent craft available to order. The central staircase adds to the ambiance of the place and leads to the function room that overlooks the square. Back downstairs the rear area of the ground floor is substantially bigger than the bar and is given over to those wishing to dine. There’s also a beer garden further back. Lots of care and attention and thought has been given to this place throughout. | 76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 worldbeertaste (73) , England | December 15, 2011 Beautiful place to sit for a drink. Great lounge atmosphere with comfortable chairs and a old house feel. Now a decent restarant rather than just a pub. Lots of rare seasonal drinks with a few belgian bottles behind the bar. Usually in the Good Beer Guide and it should be. Cask Mark Pub. A great place for a decent pint. |
