Very cool brewpub. It’s in a neighbourhood location albeit with a lacklustre view of a busy road. However the brewpub is cozy with hand carved wooden table tops, hanging plants and natural lighting coming through. I ordered a tasting ’stump’ hehe of four beers, which featured a couple of hoppy brews and a gose. The beers were pretty good except for the IPA which was harshly bitter and the gose that wasn’t really sour. There was another 6 or so beers also on tap. I had a toasted cheese and duck sandwich which was tasty. The waitress was efficient and not rushed as it wasn’t too busy early afternoon. It’s worth making the trek from downtown.

Visited on September 27th, 2013 in late afternoon. A lovely and deceptively large neighborhood pub just north of downtown. Like the name indicates (its french for parent tree), wood is key element here, the place is cosy and eclectic. There is college next door so alot of students. The beers I had were very good, Parkeville was a hop explosion. The food menu is an eclectic pub fare, very interesting. I was not thinking of eating here but what the f***, no doubt better than hot dogs at an arena. Maybe be the best brewpub in Quebec City, a must visit!

Nice place, fast service. Selection is extremely varied and changes very often - you have to come by every now and then. Food is standard pub fare at a very acceptable price. All in all, a very good place to have a quick beer after work.

Quaint and cozy little brewpub in the lower town. Atmosphere is great, the service is quick and good. They haven’t started brewing yet, but have two of their beers that are contract brewed. The food is good and quite reasonably priced, only downside is a slightly small menu (but all decent choices). I’ll revisit, as I expect some good things from this place.

La Souche is Limoilou’s first proper beer pub, and not a moment too soon. The owners are enthusiastic guys, and since it’s opened the menu has been constantly expanding and changing. Fairly short beer blackboard, but the beers are generally of a high quality and the selection is constantly changing. DDC, Charlevoix et al make frequent appearances. Free pool, excellent pub grub (try the tofu burger!), and the possibility of buying pitchers of 10%+ beers, which is frankly risky. They have now started their own beer, though not on site as of yet due to licensing problems apparently. Tried the first two, and they have promise, but there is plenty of room for improvement. I think these guys are just starting out really. Definitely a place to while away those long Québecois winters. Recommend heartily. Santé!

I enjoyed this place with its reclaimed wood, trunk tables, very Quebec-Gaelic cuisine at affordable prices (choucroute, Irish Stew, intriguing pizzas like the maple and sausage), 8 taps of various Qc micros, some bottles. Possible to walk from downtown but you can also take bus 800 to La Canardiere and Capucins. They offer a tasting flight (la souchette) for 9$, 5 X 4on.
