78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 VT (34) Quebec City, Quebec | March 1, 2013 Nice place, fast service. Selection is extremely varied and changes very often - you have to come by every now and then. Food is standard pub fare at a very acceptable price. All in all, a very good place to have a quick beer after work. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 JulienHuxley (133) Trois-Rivieres, Quebec | February 13, 2013 Quaint and cozy little brewpub in the lower town. Atmosphere is great, the service is quick and good. They haven’t started brewing yet, but have two of their beers that are contract brewed. The food is good and quite reasonably priced, only downside is a slightly small menu (but all decent choices). I’ll revisit, as I expect some good things from this place. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 Schmaranoia (3) Québec, Quebec | January 30, 2013 La Souche is Limoilou’s first proper beer pub, and not a moment too soon. The owners are enthusiastic guys, and since it’s opened the menu has been constantly expanding and changing. Fairly short beer blackboard, but the beers are generally of a high quality and the selection is constantly changing. DDC, Charlevoix et al make frequent appearances. Free pool, excellent pub grub (try the tofu burger!), and the possibility of buying pitchers of 10%+ beers, which is frankly risky.
They have now started their own beer, though not on site as of yet due to licensing problems apparently. Tried the first two, and they have promise, but there is plenty of room for improvement. I think these guys are just starting out really. Definitely a place to while away those long Québecois winters. Recommend heartily. Santé! | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Lubiere (416) Ottawa, Ontario | January 12, 2013 I enjoyed this place with its reclaimed wood, trunk tables, very Quebec-Gaelic cuisine at affordable prices (choucroute, Irish Stew, intriguing pizzas like the maple and sausage), 8 taps of various Qc micros, some bottles. Possible to walk from downtown but you can also take bus 800 to La Canardiere and Capucins. They offer a tasting flight (la souchette) for 9$, 5 X 4on. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 tom10101 (37) Quebec | June 30, 2012 Nice place located in Limoilou. They will eventually brew their own beer but that’s not the case for the moment. Good ambiance. Service is fast but doesn’t seem to have much knowledge of their products. Nice selection with eight tap lines (including DDC and TDD as of today). Good food including nice pizzas, fancy hot-dog and many things with beer in recipes. Prices are fair. Overall, one of the best places to go in Quebec city. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Minderbinder (3) Québec, Quebec | March 9, 2012 Very nice place, in Limoilou. Ambiance is good, tables are made of huge tree slices (horizontal). Very woody, comfy atmosphere. Service is fast and accurate, one of the owners took the time to chat with us. Awesome beers available, including but not limited to Dieu du Ciel (Aphrodisiaque, Solstice d’hiver, Paienne), La Barberie, Le Corsaire, and Microbrasserie de Charlevoix (including Lupulus).
Food is good, but dont worry, there is still some left for you. They cook with beer. Prices are fair. A very nice place. |
