Does not have the same traditional ambiente as the other 7 breweries in Bamberg. Still wothwile to visit, Pils is one of the best beers in town and it’s just across the street of the great Mahr’s brewery.

Get the Herren pils and stick with it. Best pils style in town and one of the best in the region. A boozer brewery along the lines of Fassla (means grown men drinking at 10 AM). Basically across the street from Mahrs a bit outside the center of town (a good little walk to whet the thirst). have a couple of brews here with the locals and then go eat and chill at Mahrs.

Courtyard beer garden with some nice maple trees. Service was unfriendly and made not a good impression. Had only 2 beers on. Price wise it was ok. Didn’t have food. Several locals here and some random tourists. Nice to see the local habits in playing cards.

Brewpub across the street from Mahrs. Like most of the other places in Bamberg its pretty big and have a nice outdoor seating. 3 beers on tap. Frindly service and fairly priced.

I’m relatively indifferent about their beers, though individual servings have occasionally been quite sparkling. They have a nice garden and a good atmosphere, but I think I’d rather shuffle over to Mahr’s most days.

Great pils, to be consumed in this wonderful atmosphere. Nice beer garden out back on a sunny day. A must stop.

Visited March 2012. Not such a huge fan of this place. The light decor and lack of much decoration is off putting. Tried four beers: the draught Josephi Bock and the Pils were good or very good while the bottled Helles and draught Sternla were only fair. Probably best to take the bus (905/936) out here.

The place looks like a resturant from the 50’s or the old east Germany. The walls were decorated with hop wines, tables are solid wood without any table cloth. The beer selection is a litle better than the normal Bamberg resturant with 3 diferent sorts on tap when I was there and all were good.

In the Wunderburg district, and the only brewery still in the hands of the founding family. Good beers and good food, interior is traditional but somewhat lighter in color. In the back is a courtyard, nice in summer.

3 beers on tap on visiting day: pils, lagerbier and bock (helles). All OK beers but missing character IMO. Interior and ambiance are pretty similar to the other old breweries of Bamberg. A good place to go once...
