Not actually a brewery, but it is the place in Colombo to try Lion beer (owned by the brewery), and has Lion Stout on tap along with the other Lion offerings. Located in the Dutch Hospital entertainment area, it’s a somewhat trendy bar with a spacious interior (if you want aircon and slightly loud music), as well as a few tables outside. There’s also a reasonable food selection. A word of warning, although it maybe open earlier, they will not serve beer until 17:00. Also, you must eat to order alcohol, although this can just be a small snack and once you say that you’ve eaten it’s fine. There’s not may places to get the local beers in Colombo, but this is worth visiting if you are in the area after a day of fumes, bad smells, crazy traffic and sightseeing. The courtyards of the Dutch Hospital area provide a very welcome escape from the chaos outside.
